Marketing is the key to promoting a business, its products and services. It is the study of how companies manage demand for their products and services through communication, product renewal and product creation. Marketers may analyse current trends in the marketplace, present findings, develop marketing solutions to business problems, and create advertising and other promotional materials.
The Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) is a vocationally oriented degree designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to deal with the ambiguity and complexity of a career in marketing. Students will discover the significance of marketing in the wider business context, and how business results are achieved through the development of a customer focus. In this course they will explore the worlds of market research, buyer behaviour, services marketing, marketing planning, advertising and promotion.
In addition to the university’s graduate attributes, Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) graduates will be:
knowledgeable in all aspects of marketing, so as to effectively manage customers
able to evaluate marketing alternatives and to confidently propose effective and creative business solutions
able to communicate and apply business solutions in a credible, articulate and confident manner to various stakeholders
cognisant of the social, legal, ethical and global complexities in marketing
Eight additional units of study must be completed. These units of study may be taken as a co-major, two minors, or pathway units.
