This course has three majors or streams:

  • Accounting
  • Management
  • Marketing

This course is designed to develop students as employable knowledge workers in the world of business. Students gain a broad business education that is further enhanced with studies in the areas of accounting, management and marketing.

The course balances theory and practice, and stresses on the instillation of values, ethics and attitudes to enable graduates to demonstrate knowledge and comprehension on fundamental principles of their chosen field of study, use the knowledge and comprehension through methods that indicate professionalism in employment, attain team and interpersonal skills appropriate to employment, become responsible members of society and use independent learning skills in further education.

 

All students are required to complete eight core and 16 stream units for a total of 24 units.

Pathways and articulation

If the student wishes to further their tertiary study, the attainment of this qualification will provide students with a pathway into Swinburne’s Bachelor of Commerce, Design or Information and Communication Technology courses.

 


Accounting graduates could be employed or self-employed in the areas of accounting and financial management.

Management graduates could be employed or self-employed in a wide range of fields for example in business management, human resources, marketing and sales management, international trade, and manufacturing management.

Marketing graduates are well poised to move directly into employment, pursuing job roles across a variety of different industry sectors with focus in sales and marketing management. Possible careers relevant to this qualification include product development, customer service, sales and marketing, advertising and promotion, communication and market research.
