*The indicative course fees shown here applies to students studying on-campus in Malaysia for the relevant year only. They are based on a standard study load per year. However, please note that fees are assessed according to a student's study load in each term, and variation to study load will result in an adjustment to tuition fees. All fees are subject to annual review and may be adjusted.

Intensive English is an English proficiency course designed to fast-track students from their different starting points to a functional level of academic English.

The aim is to help them make the transition from school to university studies successfully. At the end of the course, the students will have acquired the following:

Use of the International Pronunciation Alphabet for clear and correct pronunciation:

  • Sentence level grammar
  • A wider academic vocabulary
  • Better comprehension of academic text
  • Coherent writing of academic text
  • Confidence in speaking in English
  • Improved oral fluency and accuracy
  • Ability to understand spoken English

 

This course is divided into

  • Basic Intensive English (BIE);
  • Intermediate Intensive English (IIE); and
  • Upper Intermediate Intensive English (UIIE)

and is designed to give you maximum interactive learning practice in listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar. Each level runs for 10 weeks and comprises 200 hours of learning in the classroom, language laboratory and library.

It covers General English and English for Academic Purposes. Students have to pass the examinations at all levels.
UIIE incorporates two hours per week of IELTS training for students who wish to take the IELTS test.
