The Master of Management is a general management qualification that enables students to pursue a managerial career in any industry or sector of their choice. The program trains students in key managerial functions, including financing, marketing, human resource development, business development, strategic direction, and corporate governance. It develops their capacity to analyse business situations using concepts and frameworks from different areas of management and formulate strategic responses that take into account the contemporary social, economic, and regulatory environment of business.

The Master of Management is a three-tiered program that allows students to chart their progression along the following stages:

Stage 1: Graduate Certificate of Management
The Graduate Certificate of Management provides students with a foundation in management knowledge, focusing on four critical domains, namely, financial and accounting knowledge for managerial decision-making, strategic marketing, economic principles and leadership.

Stage 2: Graduate Diploma of Management
The Graduate Diploma of Management offers continuing professional development for students who have completed the units of study at the Graduate Certificate-stage. Students will develop skills in strategic management and learn to apply quantitative techniques for correct evaluation of financial and investment options. In addition, students will develop an understanding of major issues related to the application of information technology in organisations, as well as the complexity of managing a culturally diverse workforce.

Stage 3: Master of Management
The Master of Management offers opportunities for students to synthesise the learning experience at the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma stages, and apply these in exploring advanced knowledge in corporate entrepreneurship, strategic human resource management, corporate governance and leading innovative and entrepreneurial initiatives.

Note: Students enter the program at Stage 1 (graduate certificate) and progress through to Stage 2 (graduate diploma) and Stage 3 (master). Progression from Stage 2 to 3 will be dependent on the completion of all units at Stage 1 and Stage 2.

Each stage comprises four units of study, each worth 12.5 credit points. To be eligible for the award of the Master of Management, a student will need to satisfactorily complete a total of 150 credit points.
Full-time students undertake two units of study per term or eight units per year while part-time students undertake one unit per term or four units per year*.

Each term is of six weeks’ duration and there are four terms per year. Each unit has a minimum six hours of class contact time per week or equivalent. In addition to formal class time, students are expected to spend a minimum of the equivalent class contact hours per week in private study, assessment preparation and project work.

* Students holding an international student visa are required to study full-time.
