Manager, Industry Engaged Learning (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible to contact, liaise with and contribute to the building of strong relationships with all key stakeholders; between the university, government, industry, the educational bodies, and the community.  The successful applicant will provide leadership in the development of strategic industry alliances or industry smart partnerships. In addition, he/she will also have to work closely with the Director Academic, Heads of School and staff to facilitate professional experience placements for students and seek student performance feedback for industry placement students and graduates, as well as organise and manage training sessions, seminars and workshops involving industry and government agencies.  The applicant will also work closely with the Manager of Research & Consultancy in the further development of the SUTS research effort by assisting with the identification of research and/or consultancy opportunities and partners.

Assistant Manager (Infrastructure) (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of critical systems (Linux / Microsoft-based), Datacenter and Cisco Network infrastructure.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant discipline from a recognized University.
  • At least 7 years of relevant working experience in the areas of network operations, support, systems and infrastructure in a medium to large enterprise with a proven record of providing quality service and leadership.
  • Hands-on expertise and knowledge of the operations and maintenance in one or more of the following domains:
    • System management (inclusive of backup and recovery) of Unix/Linux/Windows servers
    • Network infrastructure management preferably on Cisco 37XX, 45XX and 65XX switches
    • Datacenter setup, implementation or management
    • Security management of systems
  • Has excellent interpersonal & organisational skills, a pleasant personality, and is a good team player.

 

Assistant Manager, National Marketing and Recruitment (Position Description)
The successful candidate will be responsible for generating new student enrolments, according to targets, for SUTS programs for specific markets and channels. He / she will be developing marketing recruitment strategies and systems that will ensure targets are met and within budget. The involves managing and monitoring the distribution channels that deliver these enrolments, and ensuring compliance with Unit and University policies and procedures and relevant legislation.

The Requirements:

  • Completion of a degree from a Malaysian or overseas university in an area relevant to the duties;
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant working experience;
  • A level maturity consistent with the requirements of the position for independent work, initiative and travel;

Assistant Manager, School (3 Positions)

The Assistant Manager is a member of the School Executive Team and works with the Head and Associate Heads of the School to provide administrative and managerial support to the School. The position acts across a range of policy and operational areas. The key responsibility areas include strategic planning and performance monitoring, policy compliance, financial budgeting and control, human capital management, risk management, master timetabling, data compilation and archiving, accreditation documentation, monitoring of physical resources, student services, business development and communication, and occupational health and safety, monitoring of physical resources, student services, business development and communication, and occupational health and safety.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an academic/professional field related to the School’s academic programs, from a recognised institution.
  • Proven ability to implement policy successfully within an organisational context.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills demonstrated through an ability to motivate, persuade, and negotiate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Highly developed oral and writing skills (in English) demonstrated through experience in presenting complex information and producing periodic management reports.

Accountant (Position Description)
This position will reside within the Finance Unit and will report directly to the Manager of the Unit and provide management accounting support which will include preparation of various quarterly/monthly management, research and grants accounts, budgets, forecasts for the University and statistical returns. The successful applicant will undertake a variety of accounting duties in a busy office environment, working independently whilst exercising judgement to prioritize tasks in order to meet set deadlines.

The Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Professional qualification in Accounting (ACCA/CIMA/MICPA).
  • Applicants should also be a registered member with the Malaysian Institute of Accounting (MIA)
  • At least 5 years relevant working experience in a commercial or audit environment.
  • Have sound knowledge of budget and budgetary control process, internal control and cost analysis.
  • A level of maturity consistent with the requirements of the position for independent work, initiative and sound business acumen.

Human Resources Executive (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for implementing various HR activities in the Learning & Development section. He/she will also assist in the planning of related HR activities and carrying out new initiatives undertaken by the Unit.

The requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development, Human Resource Management, Business Administration/Management or other related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • At least 3 to 5 years working experience in various functions of human resources, particularly in training/learning and development, talent management and succession planning.
  • Proficiency in the application of information technology to administrative systems and tasks, including demonstrated competence with word documents, spreadsheet packages, and training/management development system.

Human Resources (HR) Executive (HR Services) (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for implementing all HR activities encompassing the various HR functions. Focus areas of this position include compensation and benefits, personnel administration, expatriate management, staff statistics and records as well as employee relations and discipline.

The Requirements: -

  • A Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, HR Development, Business Administration / Management or other related disciplines from a recognized institution / university
  • At least 3 - 5 years working experience in relevant functions of human resources

Human Resources (HR) Officer (Recruitment) (Position Description)
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out all operational recruitment and selection activities within the Recruitment Services section. He / She will also assist in the planning of related human resources (HR) activities as well as responsible for implementing process improvement and any other initiatives. 

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources Management, Human Resources Development, Business Administration / Management or other related discipline from a recognized institution; or a Diploma in Business Studies, Human Resources Management, or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years working experience in human resources area.

Maintenance Executive (Position Description)
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of university assets, the management of renovation projects, repair and installation works and space planning, the management of service contracts, liaising and coordinating with Building Maintenance Unit on maintenance of building, M & E services and building architectural fixtures, tracking of maintenance and service budget expenditures, as well as monitoring utilities consumption and cost control. He/she will also be responsible for developing maintenance policies and procedures and ensuring that they are oriented towards achieving the University objectives.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a Malaysian or overseas university in an area relevant to the duties and with 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in various functions of building maintenance.
  • Good analytical skills for trouble shooting and problem solving.
  • Sound understanding and appreciation of the role and function of building maintenance in supporting the development goals of a modern university.
  • Some knowledge in the application of information technology to administrative systems and tasks.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing, to convey and elicit information effectively, and to develop co-operative working relationships with staff, students and suppliers.
  • Hands-on knowledge of maintenance of various facilities and fixtures installed in the building and its compound: air conditioning system, furniture, electrical works, plumbing, sound system, fire and safety system, security system, etc.

Network Administrator (Cisco) (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for configuring and managing a Cisco Campus Architecture network comprising catalyst 4000 / 6000 series switches, 3800 series router and 5500 security appliances. The applicant is expected to have expert hands-on technical knowledge in various Cisco technologies.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT from a recognised University.
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in the areas of Cisco-based network operations, support and management in a medium to large enterprise with a proven record of providing quality service and leadership.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in implementing and managing Cisco switching & routing on Cisco catalyst 4000 / 6000 series switches.
  • Ability to perform the tasks assigned under pressure and short notice. Ready to work outside of normal office hours when required.

 

Security Supervisor (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that the University’s security and safety systems operate in accordance with specifications and to their maximum potential in order to provide a safe and secure working and studying environment. The successful applicant will also identify issues related to safety and security, propose solutions to related issues, and direct all internal and external security and loss prevention resources towards reducing or eliminating losses from all sources, as well as traffic management.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a Malaysian or overseas university in an area relevant to the duties with 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • Those currently in military, police or security service with at least 5 years of working experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to review, evaluate, recommend, develop and implement new programmes.
  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule, follow detailed procedures, and has good customer service skills.

System Administrator (Linux) (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for Linux System Administration and Application Support. This position is responsible for providing high level support for the University’s production Linux-based systems, running applications such as Tomcat, Blackboard, and Oracle databases.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT from a recognised University.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in LINUX/UNIX infrastructure systems administration, preferably in a Red Hat Linux environment.
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in system operation and support in a medium to large enterprise with a proven record of providing quality service and leadership.
  • Experience in supporting various applications and services in an Linux environment, such as Apache Webserver, Oracle, Blackboard, RADIUS and/or OpenLDAP.

Administration Officer (School of Language and Foundation) (Position Description)
The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of School, Associate Heads of School, and Program Coordinators, staff of the School and other staff on campus. This position involves general administrative tasks within the School, administration related to the educational programs offered by the School, and the work of complying with various policies, processes and procedures relevant to the academic operations of the University.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in English Language/Education or a related field. Knowledge of statistical analysis would be an added advantage.

Administration Officer, Industry Engaged Learning (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for handling general administrative tasks, basic information research and fact-finding, management and entry of data, as well as some analytical tasks. He/she will also work closely with other staff on campus. 

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a Malaysian or overseas university in an area relevant to the duties; or completion of a Diploma in a related discipline with a minimum of 3 to 5 years working experience.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle more than one priority at a time and successfully prioritise and identify the best course of action in the implementation of administrative tasks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing counselling services and special attention whenever needed, especially for international students.

  • Bachelor’s degree in counselling or professional qualification from a Malaysian or overseas university in an area relevant to the duties. Must be a registered counsellor and member of the Malaysian Counselling Association (PERKAMA).

The position will reside within the Business Development & Communications and will report directly to the Manager, Business Development & Communications. The successful candidate will be responsible for marketing the University and its products and services in West Malaysia and in the region. In addition, he / she will also involve in contributing to the development and implementation of recruitment strategies and marketing plans, planning and implementation of promotional activities as well as achievement of student enrolment in designated market(s).

Marketing Officer (National Marketing & Recruitment) (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible to support the marketing and communications needs of the University. He/she will also be responsible for marketing the University and its products and services in Malaysia and in the region. The position will reside within the Business Development and Communications Unit and will report directly to the Manager of National Marketing and Recruitment.

Personal Assistant (Business Development & Communications) (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing general administrative support to the Director, Business Development & Communications and other colleagues within the Unit. He/she will also assist in improving the documentation of marketing planning and activities. In addition, he/she will also be responsible for minutes taking, flight and hotel bookings, leave administration and scheduling.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or professional qualification from a Malaysian or overseas university in an area relevant to the duties.
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience in secretarial and administration position.
  • A level of maturity consistent with the requirements of the position for independent work, initiative and sound business acumen.

Technical Officer (Infrastructure) (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for the setting up, maintenance and support of critical IT facilities such as Data Centre and IP-based management systems (eg IP-PABX, networked LCD projector management, IP-CCTV and IP-Door access).

The Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT from a recognized university or diploma in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years working experience
  • Sound understanding and experience in supporting:
  • Data Centre systems such as UPS, fire suppression, cooling, monitoring systems generator set and electrical distribution system
  • Server hardware, software and network infrastructure
  • IP-PABX, IP-CCTV, IP-Door access or/and networked LCD projector management systems
  • Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) is preferred.

 

Technical Officer (Lab) (Position Description)
The successful applicant will perform first line support including setting up, maintaining and supporting laboratory IT equipment. The applicant will also be responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting specialized engineering software such as AutoDesk CAD products, MatLab, Mathematica and others. Applicants with a degree in engineering are encouraged to apply.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/IT/Computing from a recognized University or

    diploma in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years working experience

  • Relevant experience in:
  • Installing, maintaining & supporting specialized engineering software such as AutoDesk products, MatLab, Mathematica, Solidworks, Altium Designer Suite, Xilinx ISE Design Suite, etc
  • PC hardware and automated software installation
  • Network printers’ setup and support
  • Troubleshooting for IT hardware/software and IT related equipment
  • Local Area Network (LAN) troubleshooting

 

Technical Officer (Windows) (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for pro-actively managing the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 infrastructure and enterprise application of the University. The applicant will also be responsible for supporting, monitoring and fine-tuning Microsoft servers and Microsoft Application in an enterprise environment.

The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT from a recognised college or university or a diploma with at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • Extensive experience in Advanced Windows Server 2008 administration, support and fine-tuning.
  • Experience in the installation and configuration of:
    • enterprise servers
    • storage and robotic library
    • backup and recovery
  • Ability to perform the tasks assigned under pressure and short notice. Ready to work outside of normal office hours when required.           

 

Lab Technician, Civil Engineering (Position Description)
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical laboratory support for teaching and research in Civil Engineering in the areas of concrete, steel and soil testing. Knowledge of samples preparation in accordance with established relevant standards or codes of practice would be an advantage. The applicant must also be willing to learn to operate advanced testing equipment.

The Requirements:

  • A diploma from a recognized institution in an area relevant to Civil Engineering.
  • At least 1 year working experience laboratory operations.
  • Able to comply with occupational health and safety policies as developed by Swinburne University of Technology in accordance with current legislation.
  • Strong interest in laboratory activities and has hands-on skills.
  • Creativity and ability to contribute ideas and to work from sketches in an interactive way with students and staff members.
  • Independent, with good interpersonal and communication skills.
