Biography

Dr. Lawan Ahmed obtained his BSc (ED) (Hons) degree in Mathematics and Education from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Nigeria in 1995. He also obtained an MSc degree in Operations Research from University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 1999. Lawan obtained another MSc degree in Computer Science from DeMontfort University (DMU) UK in 2002. He completed his PhD degree in 2004 from the department of Computer and Communication Systems Engineering University Putra Malaysia (UPM). His PhD was in the field of Information Technology and Multimedia systems, his research were in the areas of smartcard security and the design of authentication protocols.

Dr Lawan has held various positions throughout his academic career. He has been an Assistant Education Officer (AEO) from (1990-1994), High Education Officer planning department (HEO) from (1994-1997), tutor in Mathematics at UPM (1997-1999), tutor in Computer Engineering at UPM (1999-2002). He is currently a lecturer in the School of IT & Multimedia, Swinburne University of Technology (Sarawak).
