The
Swinburne University of Technology (Sarawak Campus), Information Resources provides
wide range of materials that support the teaching, learning and research
programmes of the University.
On
June 2001, all functions of the Information Resources are fully automated,
utilising the web-based library management solution, Angkasa. Library users
have access to the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) for bibliographic
data and loan status information of library materials via the Web OPAC
that is also available on the Internet.
The
collections are classified and cataloged according to Dewey Decimal Classification
Scheme (DDC) and consist of the following categories of materials:

General Collection
Consists
of textbooks, additional references, and books for leisure reading. This
collection can be borrowed.

Reference Collection
Reference resources comprise of quick reference materials such as encyclopedias,
dictionaries, directories, bibliographies and textbooks. The collection
is non-circulating and to be used in the Information Resources only. This
collection will be indicated by prefix "REF" followed by their call number.

Counter Reserved Material
This collection consists of important text-books or
teaching manual recommended by academic
staff as reading materials for courses
taught at the Institution and essential
materials which are heavily used by staff
and students. The items can be used in on
2-hourly basis and an overnight loan.

Staff Collection
These
are heavily used materials especially textbooks requested by academic staff.
The collection is located behind the Reference Collection and can only
be borrowed by the staff. This collection will be indicated by prefix "SC"
followed by their call number.

Electronic and Online Resources
In
line with the Global Information Provision of Swinburne University of Technology
in Melbourne, access to
EBSCOhost,
Infotrac,
Proquest,
Emerald Fulltext Database,
Wiley Interscience and
Fin Analysis
and some other online resources are made available through their library
Information Gateway. These resources provide references with short abstracts
to journal articles and other documents in various subject areas.

Periodicals
This collection consists of the latest issues of
periodicals subscribed, as well as those
received as gifts or exchange. |

Newspapers Collection
The Information Resources subscribes to the major local
newspapers. |
