Outlook Live officially launched

Swinburne University Sarawak Campus has launched Live@Edu on 11 November 2010 to provide students with an improved email and calendaring service, 25 GB of online file storage and access to Office Web Apps.

In addition to these core University-supported services, students will be able to use their University branded Windows LiveID to access a wide range of Windows Live services, no only those offered or supported as part of Live@Edu.

Core Supported Live@edu Services

  • Outlook Live

    Outlook Live mail and Calendar

An Exchange 2010 mailbox that has a 10 GB quota and that can be accessed via the usual POP and IMAP clients or via Outlook Web Access 2010 (OWA). The web client supports features such as right click, drag and drop and works with multiple browsers such as IE, Safari and Firefox. You can create multiple calendars that can be shared with others.

  • SkyDrive

    SkyDrive

With a incredible 25 GB of online storage to store and share files you will never need to loose another assignment, report or thesis again due to a lost or damaged USB stick.

  • Office Web Apps

Integrated with the SkyDrive, this lets you create, view and edit Microsoft Office documents online even if you don't have Office installed locally.

Discontinued Services

  • Spaces

    Windows Live Spaces

Spaces is no longer being offered as part of the Windows Live service and this includes Live@edu. A new service based on SharePoint is expected to arrive in 2011 that will incorporate many of the features of Spaces, plus many new ones.
