Penalties for breaching loan conditions
These penalties apply to breaching loan conditions when borrowing from Swinburne Library and may apply to borrowing from other universities and public libraries that participate in reciprocal borrowing schemes.
- Fines apply for late return of borrowed resources.
- Borrowing privileges will be suspended while loans, fines and other charges are outstanding.
Overdue penalties and fines
Penalties and fines for late returns:
- General Collection: RM 0.50 per day/item
- Counter-Reserved Materials: RM 1.00 per every hour/item
How to avoid fines
- Return items on time
- Renew items on or before the due date by telephone or through the online catalogue
- Make a note of due dates in a diary or keep date receipts in a safe place
- Check the catalogue to see when your loans are due back
- Don't lend your card to anyone else and don't borrow for others. If you do you will be responsible for their fines.
- Report lost ID cards to the Library immediately
