Swinburne Sarawak to hold open day this Saturday

Career talks by industry professionals, displays and demonstration of student projects, aptitude tests and guided tours of the expanded campus are among some of the highlights of Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ open day this Saturday.
Three Australian students were recently awarded a scholarship by the Reverse Colombo Plan Scholarship Fund to pursue a semester of their studies at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus.
92 Swinburne students awarded scholarships

Students from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus have been awarded 92 scholarships with a total value of over RM185,000 this semester. The scholarship awards are granted to outstanding students who scored impressive results in public and semester exams as a way for Swinburne Sarawak to recognize and encourage academic excellence.
Swinburne named in top 500 universities worldwide

Swinburne has earned its place among the top 500 universities in the world, according to the 2008 Times Higher Education–QS World University Rankings.
The world rankings set out to give an up-to-date and rounded assessment of the world’s leading universities and – at a time of unprecedented mobility in international education – are seen with increasing importance by students and academics alike.
As part of its service to its graduates and students who will soon be graduating with their careers, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus will hold an Employment Fair and an Alumni Get-Together at its campus on Thursday, 9 October.
Swinburne Sarawak students and staff give blood

About 40 students and staff from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus responded to the call for blood donation on Wednesday, 17 September 2008.
Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus put up an impressive show to bag a series of awards in the final of the Yayasan Sarawak English World Style Debate Challenge Trophy which was held at Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce Auditorium, Institut Perguruan Batu Lintang in Kuching, on 26 August, 2008.

Swinburne Sarawak's RM110 million expanded campus opens

Chief Minister of Sarawak Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is also the Pro Chancellor of Swinburne Sarawak, officially declared open the expanded campus of Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus on Saturday, 23 August 2008.
MoU with Faculty of Engineering, MMU

The School has recently signed an MoU with Faculty of Engineering, MMU. Under the MoU, both parties agree to explore research collaboration opportunities in the area of information security.
Professor Tony T.N. Hung, who is Head of the Language Centre at the Hong Kong Baptist University, will be giving a one-hour public lecture entitled “Reflections on language teaching in the ‘Postmethod’ era”.
Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus will have one of the highest number of engineering teaching staff with doctorates in the country by year-end, said the head of the university’s School of Engineering and Science, recently.
A total of 30 people will take part in an “Active Learning Workshop in Science and Engineering” from 8 to 10 July, at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus.
Swinburne to hold Info Day on Saturday

SPM and STPM school leavers who are interested to find out more about tertiary education options can do so at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Info Day this Saturday (21 June).
A delegation from the University of Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, recently paid a visit to Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus with the objective of strengthening the relationship between the two institutions.
A total of 151 of students from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus who scored impressive results in public and semester exams. were awarded a total of RM407,500 in scholarships yesterday, 7 May 2008.
Innovative universities extend reach

The 27 senior academics travelled half-way round the world to hold their board meeting in Melbourne and on the way they stopped off in steamy Sarawak on the island of Borneo. The European Consortium of Innovative Universities had never been this far south before but it was unlikely to be the last time.
Members of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) recently toured Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus and participated at a seminar on transnational education.
SM Lodge takes home debating championship trophy

SM Lodge literally took home the World Schools Debating Championship trophy when they won the title for the third year running, which entitles the school to keep the championship trophy.
