How to Apply for Research Higher Degree Candidature

Applicants should check that they meet the entry requirements for research higher degrees at Swinburne - to do this please consult section two of the Swinburne Research Higher Degree Policy.

Applications can be made at any time of year but if a scholarship is requested with an application, such submissions will only be considered around March and October of each year.

Scholarships and fees

Locate a Supervisor for your Research Higher Degree

You will then need to locate a Supervisor for your Research Higher Degree. This is essential as your candidature will not be considered unless you have a willing Supervisor. To discuss supervision possibilities please contact the appropriate School for your area of interest. Normally a Supervisor should come from the School you are studying under (there is a minimum of two academic supervisors). The appropriate contacts are listed below:

Complete and lodge a Research Higher Degrees Candidature Form

You can download an application form for Research Higher Degree Candidature from here. Complete your sections and send the form electronically in its original format to your intended supervisor who will do the submission. Attach scanned, certified supporting documents.

If applying for a scholarship, a referee report must be included with your application. Originals of all supporting documents are required to be produced at enrolment.
