Work Experience
Professor Diaz has been Professor of Physics at Ottawa University (1962-1977),
IT Consultant (1978-1981), a Systems Development Manager, Caltex Oil Co.
Ltd. (1981-1982), Divisional Manager, Development at Databank Systems Ltd.
(1983-1990), Professor of Information Systems and Head of the Department
of Management Science and Information Systems at the University of
Auckland Business School (1990-2002) and is currently Professor Emeritus,
The University of Auckland Business School.
As a systems
developer and project manager, Professor Diaz has extensive experience as a
systems architect and the development of financial and university
administrative systems.
Professor Diaz has
served as a consultant to public and private enterprises and has served as
an expert witness in a variety of conflict resolution situations.
Research & Scholarship
Interests
His teaching
interests have been in the management of the information technology
function in an enterprise, the impact of information systems in
organizations, database systems and executive information systems. He has
taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, especially to the
MBA programme at the University of Auckland Business School. His research work has
been in similar areas such as the factors affecting the success of
information systems, the architecture of information systems, and the
impact of information systems on organizations.
