The Student Leadership and Volunteers Program (SLVP) aims to provide Swinburne students the opportunity to become more involved in Swinburne Sarawak and also the broader community.
It gives them a chance to excel not only academically but also in their co-curricular activities. Volunteering is a fantastic way to make new friends and enhance practical experience alongside studies.
SLVP also offers a range of other benefits, including certificates, free training (First aid, Soft skills, photography courses and many more), reference letters and social opportunities. At any given time we have a variety of opportunities available, such as Orientation facilitators, assistance with activities on campus or at fundraising events, tutoring, data entry, poster design and much more.
Getting involved is simple as registering as volunteer here, finding an opportunity and then applying. Get more than a degree – be part of SLVP!
The SLVP involves:
SLVP provides the opportunity to student volunteers to give support in these Swinburne Sarawak departments and activities:
Students who reach 15+ volunteer hours are eligible for free training, certificates, reference letters, social opportunities and other benefits.
Top SLVP students will also be eligible to receive a certificate signed by the Vice Chancellor as part of the Vice Chancellors Leadership Program, with an invitation to our SLVP Awards Celebration. And students who demonstrate outstanding commitment to the values of leadership and volunteering will be eligible for the SLVP Student Leader of the Year or Student Volunteer of the Year Awards!
Students can record volunteer and leadership hours on the general logsheet, with staff verifying the time that is contributed. Log sheets need to be handed in to the SEA office to become eligible for SLVP benefits.
Leadership is learned and demonstrated through “doing” and SLVP supports some fantastic leadership groups, where students can develop personally and professionally. Whether you’re interested in being a student representative through the SSSC, or getting involved in community and humanitarian work through Swinburne Rotaract, Swinburne Sarawak Habitat for Humanity Chapter and many more, we have a group that will support the development of our future leaders.
SLVP support for these groups includes the provision of funding, logistical assistance, promotions and recruitment. Students involved can also be credited with SLVP Points to qualify for Recognition & Benefits.
