General Policy
- Library users are required to carry their university identity card to use the library and must produce it when requested by an authorized person.
- The library including the computer areas is a place for quiet and independent study. All users should behave in a manner that is not disruptive to others. Silence will be strictly observed in the library. Patrons causing disturbance will be asked to leave the library; those refuse will be warned and stern action will be taken.
- Use of mobile is conditional on good mobile phone manners, including quiet or silent ringing, and short conversations. Mobile phone users must comply with instructions given to them by staff, such as instructions to make the call somewhere else, leave the library or speak more quietly.
- The following activities are prohibited:-
- Eating and drinking
- Improper behaviour
- Playing games
- Smoking
- Use of profanity
- For security reasons, valuable items or any personal possessions brought into the library should not be left unattended. The management does not take responsibility for lost or damaged items.
- Bags and cases may not be brought in.
- No removal of library furniture or equipment from their original place is permitted.
- Disciplinary action will be taken against those who are caught hiding, defacing and damaging library property.
- Library users who photocopy, download or scan materials are fully responsible for any action contravening the Copyright Act.

Circulation or Loan Policy
- Loans are available only on presentation of a current university identity card.
- University identity cards are not transferable; therefore they cannot be used by another person.
- No books or library materials are to be taken out of the library until the loan is recorded. All materials must be borrowed at the circulation counter before you leave the library. Unauthorized removal of library materials is regarded as a very serious offence.
- Borrowers will not be able to borrow when they have items overdue or if there are outstanding fines.
- Users must accept personal responsibility for the care of all items borrowed with their identity card and for their return in good condition.
- Materials borrowed must be returned on or before the due date.
- Borrowers can renew their loan once. However, it can only be renewed, provided that the specific item has not been requested or reserved by another user and the return date has not been exceeded. The renewal may be made in person, or by emailing the library staff or by telephone.
- Items from Reference Collections or Counter-Reserved are available for use in the library only and should not be taken out of the library.
- Items borrowed should normally be returned through the appropriate chutes but overdue items should be returned at the Lending Desk, so that you may pay fine that is owed.
- The library has the right to recall an item in high demand before it is due for return.
- If an item is lost or damaged, borrower is responsible for replacement or pays double the cost of the item plus processing fee.
- All fines for overdue items accrue to a maximum of RM30.00 per item.
- Student’s academic transcript will be withheld and students will be ineligible to apply for any award from the university while any item is still overdue or fines unsettled.
- Maximum items on loan at any one time for a student – 6 items.

- Penalties or fines imposed for late return:
- General collection : RM0.50 per day/item
- Counter-reserved/Overnight loan : RM1.00 per every hour/item

Saturday : 8.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m.
Sunday/Public Holiday : Closed.

Semester Break
Monday – Friday : 8.30 a.m. – 5.30 p.m.
Saturday : 8.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m.
Sunday/Public Holiday : Closed.
