Course objectives

Upon successfully completing the Bachelor of Design / Bachelor of Business, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and cognitive skills to review critically, analyse, consolidate and synthesize knowledge and apply this with initiative and judgement in planning, problem solving and decision making in professional practice and/or scholarship
  • Demonstrate technical and practical skills, and a broad understanding of key concepts in their chosen field of study
  • Demonstrate knowledge and cognitive and creative skills to exercise critical thinking and judgement in identifying and solving problems independently and collaboratively, in diverse contexts
  • Apply communication skills to present a clear, coherent, and independent exposition of knowledge and ideas to different audiences and stakeholders
  • Apply cognitive and technical skills and to principles of sustainability and respectful design to their knowledge and development of their design solution with responsibility and accountability
  • Exercise organizational and leadership skills, and demonstrate the ability to plan and execute a project and/or piece of research with groups that may include academics, industry professionals and students
  • Apply and integrate business-relevant knowledge, theories, concepts technologies, practices and processes
  • Obtain, analyse and interpret relevant information and data to make informed business decisions
  • Formulate innovative and sustainable solutions to business problems
  • Articulate a line of reasoning demonstrating cultural responsiveness and critically analyse and offer authentic solutions to ethical challenges in business
  • Effectively communicate business arguments and reasoning to a range of audiences

Course structure

For the completion of Bachelor of Design / Bachelor of Business, students are required to complete a total of 32 units (400 credit points) consisting of:

  • Eight (8) Design Core Units of Study (100 credit points), and
  • Five (5) Business Fundamentals core units (62.5 credit points), and
  • Three (3) Business Practice core units of study (37.5 credit points), and
  • Seven (7) units of study from one of the Design majors (100 credit points), and
  • Eight (8) units of study from one of the Business Discipline majors (100 credit points)
