Welcome to School of Chemical Engineering and Science at Swinburne Sarawak. Our school offers degree courses in chemical engineering and science at undergraduate [Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Chemical) and Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology)] and postgraduate (MSc and PhD) levels recognized nationally and internationally. The school is committed to providing students with outstanding educational opportunities in theoretical development and technical application to further the advancement of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology.

This Road Show was successfully held on 6th November 2021 (Saturday) from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm. There were engineering field students from Swinburne University Technology Sarawak (SUTS), IChemE student members, Dr. Elaine Yeu Yee Lee, Dr. How Bing Shen, Asso. Prof. Ir. Dr. Hii Ching Lik was the first invited speaker and Ts. Dr. Muhammad Heikal bin Ismail as the second invited speaker and other engineering field students from other universities.



Chemical Engineering Lecturer receives Best Poster Award in international conference

PRES’21 (or 24th Conference on Process Integration for Energy Saving and Pollution Reduction), a platform for bringing together scientists, engineers and decision-makers, to discuss and to innovate solutions and technologies for improved efficiency and sustainability of industrial and regional systems was held on 31 October to 3 November.

Six Swinburne Sarawak Biotechnology students – Celestina Jillian-Mae Gtiumiss, Kavinda Juliyan Gunasinghe, Jonathan Lee Wen Han, Muhammad Iqbal bin Abu Talib, Alwi Nurmadi Widyananda and Kirthanaa Sakthi A/P Nagulan were selected as finalists for two Science Communication competitions – Start Talking and STEMM Infographic Competitions held on 14th and 28th October 2021.

Discover Your Passion – Sago biotechnology

Everyone knows a little bit about sago in Sarawak. Sago is an edible starch made from sago palm trees. It is a staple food in parts of tropic. In Malaysia, we use it to make our famous Bubur Cha Cha dessert. But how far do you really know this unique plant resource? Associate Professor Moritz Mueller from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak is a co-investigator of the Newton-Ungku Omar Funded project awarded to a multinational team of researchers led by Dr Claire Evans from the National Oceanography Centre, UK and Dr Aazani Mujahid from the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
