Public invited to Swinburne’s Tech Talk on 11 May

KUCHING  Swinburne’s students and members of the public are invited to attend the Tech Talk on 11 May 2019 from 8.30am to 1.00pm at the university’s Lecture Theatre.  

The event is organised by Swinburne Sarawak Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) On Campus; Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Swinburne Sarawak Student Branch; and The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Swinburne Sarawak Student Section.

The talk will be delivered by speakers Andrew Chien, Head of Research and Innovation Section, Data Science and Innovation Division, Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS); Ryan Jee, founder of JobStock; and Tia Swee Hua, Global Senior Group Manager in R&D, XFAB.

An electrical and electronic engineer by training, Chien will be delivering a talk titled ‘Impact of Big Data and Internet of Things, and How to Prepare the Changes Brought About by Industry 4.0 Technologies’. Chien started his career in Wellington, New Zealand where he was involved in designing innovative integrated service digital network (ISDN) before moving on to designing market-leading GPS in-car navigation devices for Navman. A seasoned speaker, Chien is a current member of the SAINS Toastmasters Club and senior member of IEEE.

Presenting his talk on ‘How to Write a Quality Resume and Job Trend’, Jee will share with the audience advices and tips on further studies and career. Jee holds a Masters in IT (Networking) from UNIMAS and is currently pursuing his doctorate study.

Meanwhile, Tia’s topic will touch on ‘Automotive Technology in Semiconductor: Future Trend and Opportunity’. With over 25 years’ experience in the fields of engineering, manufacturing and management, Tia currently leads a global Test Chip design team at XFAB and is also part of Swinburne’s Course Advisory Committee Member.

Swinburne’s School of Engineering offers a standard four-year Bachelor of Engineering degrees with integrated honours year, covering disciplines such as civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical and electronic, and robotics and mechatronics.
