Swinburne holds pre-university open day this Saturday and Sunday

KUCHING – SPM school leavers will have the opportunity to find out more about tertiary education when Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus holds its pre-university open day this Saturday and Sunday.

The event will be held at its campus in Jalan Simpang Tiga from 9:00am to 4:00pm on both days.

Swinburne Sarawak offers one-year foundation courses with majors in Business, Design, Engineering/Science, and Information Technology/Multimedia.

Intake for foundation courses starts on 23 March.

These courses are designed to prepare SPM students for undergraduate studies in a variety of fields at Swinburne Sarawak.

During the event, academic staff from the university’s schools of Language and Foundation, Engineering and Science, Business and Enterprise, Computing and Design will be present to entertain queries such courses, subjects involved, entry requirements, application and the like.

In order to help students and their parents make a better informed decision, heads of schools and senior academics will give talks on the courses, including professional recognition as well as the difference between Swinburne courses and those offered elsewhere.

As students who meet the entry requirements of their chosen course will be issued a letter of offer to further their studies at Swinburne Sarawak on the day, they are requested to bring along their SPM results.

Application fees will be waived when students sign up for a course during the event.

Those who have yet to decide on a course of study can take a quick aptitude test to determine their interests and strengths. In just a few minutes, counsellors from the university will be able to analyse the results of the test and advice students on suitable areas of study.

Meanwhile, scholarships and financial aid are available to eligible students. Any queries on these may be directed to a Yayasan Sarawak booth on both days.

Swinburne Sarawak is a foreign branch campus university of Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. It offers identical courses as its home campus and awards the same Australian degree to its graduates.
