The Master of Business Administration (International) course is a general management postgraduate qualification that empowers students to pursue careers in unstructured work situations and workplaces that are ill-defined; technologies that have not been invented; and scarce natural resources that may be at its peak. The course provides integrated business management education to pre-experience graduates qualified in either business or in non-business academic disciplines as well as post-experience graduates preparing for strategic leadership roles and responsibilities.

Course structure and duration

The normal duration of study is two years full-time or four year part-time. There are 4 terms per year and each term consists of 10 weeks of teaching and learning. Full-time students will undertake 8 units of study per year that comprises of 2 units of study per term. Part-time students undertake 1 unit per term or 4 units per year. Each unit of study has a minimum 6 hours of class contact time per week or its equivalence. Classes are normally held on weekday evenings, or on Saturdays. Students holding an international student visa are required to study full-time.

To be eligible for the award of Master of Business Administration (International), students must complete 15 units of study (200 credit points) comprising of 14 units of study (12.5 credit points) and one (1) double unit of study (25 credit points).

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have completed one of:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 as accepted by the Academic Senate; OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in related fields with a minimum of CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the Academic Senate, subject to further internal assessment; OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the Academic Senate, subject to further internal assessment; OR
  • Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Business Administration (International);OR
  • Successful completion of the Graduate Diploma of Business Administration (International)

Note:

  1. An applicant with a non-cognate Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and without relevant working experience are required to complete all fundamental units.
  2. An applicant who has a non-cognate qualification and who has relevant working experience will be assessed to determine completion of all fundamental units.
  3. An applicant with a cognate qualification may be determined as having completed all fundamental units.
  4. Students entering on the basis of a completed Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Business Administration (International) will be given full credit for the units completed.

English Requirements

English language proficiency consistent with Swinburne Sarawak’s policies for admission of local and international students to post-graduate courses will be required for entry into the course. Potential students must produce evidence of an advanced level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
