The Swinburne Advanced Presentation Skills course is an intensive4 5-hour, 8-week program designed for students to practice, develop and deliver presentation speeches for a widerange of purposes, occasions and audiences. Here students will receive hands on practice, interactive feedback from the facilitator and their peers which will help build student’s confidence and performance as a dynamic speaker in the future.

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak.

Course objective

This course aims to:

    1. Developing and delivering presentation speeches at different levels and in different style
    2. Build student’s confidence and performance as a dynamic speaker
    3. Develop effective hand gestures, confident body language and ideal voice modulation when speaking
    4. Prepare, develop and deliver effective speeches for a wide range of purposes, occasions and audiences

Learning outcome

Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  • Recognize and identify features of Public speaking, and structure and deliver a presentation in strong and confident manner
  • Construct and illustrate complex ideas with clear explanations and dynamic slides
  • Develop solid arguments and persuasive language

Trainer information

– Trainer information.

Hugh Leong graduated from University of Malaya (UM) with Honours in Bachelor of Education, majoring in TESOL in 2009. He completed a Masters in International Education from University of Manchester, United Kingdom in 2010.

He is currently the Course Director of the MA TESOL program, in the Faculty of Business, Design and Arts in Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, Malaysia. Hugh is an international recognised debater, adjudicator and coach and is a two-time, Malaysian national intervarsity debating champion adn was awarded the Best Varsity Speaker of Malaysia in 2009.

He is also a licensed Train the Trainer, and has conducted numerous professional development programs across Asia. His research interests include assessment for learning, student engagement and teacher education.
