Before travelling to Sarawak, new international students are mandated to apply for student pass/visa. To obtain this, student must acquire a Visa Approval Letter (eVAL/VAL) from Malaysia Immigration Department (Sarawak).
With effect from 1st August 2022, all international student’s pass/visa application must be submitted to Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) throught the university.
Your student pass/visa application documents should be forwarded to Admissions Office and the university will submit these documents to EMGS.

How to apply
Once you have the Visa Approval Letter, you can proceed to the nearest Malaysian Embassy to obtain a single-entry visa into Malaysia.
When applying for the visa, you will also need to bring your Letter of Offer from the university.
Upon your arrival at Swinburne Sarawak, your single-entry visa will be converted into a student visa. This conversion will be done at the Immigration Department of Malaysia by the Student Visa Assistant of the University.
The duration of your student visa is dependent on the duration of your program of study. Please note that the student visa is renewable on its expiry date.
