Our May Foundation Intake Should Have Been Your Ultimate Power Move

By P Michael

You didn’t just miss our May Foundation intake – you missed your chance at faster graduation, a future that your peers are already building, and potentially, free tertiary education.

Let’s be real.

If you’re a post-SPM student still ‘thinking about your options,’ you just missed one of the most strategic, life-changing foundation studies moves you could have made.

You didn’t just miss Swinburne Sarawak's foundation intake—you missed your chance at free education, faster graduation, and a future your peers are already building.

Swinburne Sarawak was established in 2000 with the goal of becoming an educational center of excellence in Malaysia and the region, and to achieve Sarawak’s goals for a technically advanced workforce.

Our 19 May Foundation intake was not just another intake date. It was your shortcut to a faster degree, your chance for a free education, and your door towards a serious head start on your future.

You could have been in. But now you’re not. And here’s what that means.

You Could Have Been Fast-Tracking Your Degree Right Now

Your post-SPM peers who enrolled in the 19 May Foundation intake are already on their way to completing their foundation studies by the end of this year. That’s just seven months from now. By March 2026, they’ll be starting on their undergraduate degree (and the adventure of a lifetime), while you’re still considering your options?

Every day you delay is a day you’re not progressing.

Soon, that would be one semester lost. One cohort moves ahead of you. And by December 2025, it would be a whole year where you could have built on your skills, connections, and study momentum.

Time doesn’t wait. Neither does success.

You Missed the Front Seat to Free Tertiary Education

Let’s talk tuition fees.

The Sarawak Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES) kicks off in 2026. Many of the students from the May intake will be among the first eligible cohorts. That means they will not be paying any tuition fees (for eligible programs) while at Swinburne Sarawak.

That also makes Swinburne not just affordable (because if you talk to enough people, you will find out why); it means this cohort already has in their hands quality Australian education, tuition fee-free.

Also, if your family’s per capita income is RM1,500 or below, you have also missed out on a RM15,000 yearly stipend that could have covered your living expenses.

What does that mean? Imagine studying at a globally ranked university, not having to pay tuition fees, and getting living allowances to boot. This is not a dream because when 2026 comes around, it becomes real.

Just… not for you.

You Could’ve Been Done. Now You’re Just Behind

The students enrolled in the 19 May intake will be closing their Foundation Studies books for good by December this year. That means pressure-free Christmas and Lunar New Year celebrations for them.

No stress. No pending assignments.

They’ll be resting, recharging, and waiting for March 2026 to come around for them to start on their undergraduate degree programs.

You, on the other hand? Still trying to catch up? Still trying to decide while others are moving forward?

You’re Missing More than Classes and Experiences

Being a student at Swinburne is not just about lectures, assignments, and exams. We offer a globally recognised Australian education right here in Kuching. Not being a part of our diverse campus community means you’re missing out on:

  • exciting learning experience at our future-focused, tech-enabled campus
  • a vibrant student community and connections with peers from all over the world
  • real-world learning that actually prepares you for global employment
  • industry-linked curriculum that ensures you have the skills and know-hows to know what employers want – today and tomorrow.
You didn’t just miss Swinburne Sarawak's foundation intake—you missed your chance at free education, faster graduation, and a future your peers are already building.

Our campus community is represented by 50 nationalities, including Malaysia.

Enrolling somewhere else might get you a degree. But will it give you these experiences, this level of exposure, and the same kind of future-readiness?

Unlikely.

Still In Your ‘Maybe’ Era? They’re Already in Their Degree Era

When you skipped the May intake, you didn’t just delay your education – you put your entire educational momentum on hold.

You said “not yet” to fast-tracking your foundation studies. You said “maybe later” to being the first under FTES. You said “I’ll wait” while others are already laying the foundation for a future employers will notice.

All these you could have with Swinburne’s globally recognised degree – degrees that open doors beyond borders.

They are already moving. You’re still deciding.

Don’t let “what if” turn into “I should have.” Our July and September intakes are still open. Don’t let the next (intake) wave leave you behind.

Yet again.

Are You Going to Miss the July Intake Too?

You have another chance.

The 7 July Foundation intake is open. If you’ve reached this far into the blog, then you now know that you can still ‘course-correct.’ You can still jump in, catch up, and together, we can help align you towards an undergraduate study when 2026 rolls in.

You didn’t just miss Swinburne Sarawak's foundation intake—you missed your chance at free education, faster graduation, and a future your peers are already building.

Swinburne Sarawak is ranked Top 10 Preferred Private Universities in Malaysia, by JobStreet.com

But if you sleep on this intake too, you’ll be watching yet another cohort race ahead. While you are stuck at the starting line.

Think about it.

      • Do you really want to wait till September and be a junior to that same classmate you shared class with in secondary school?
      • Are you okay with not being known as the first cohort in the first wave of FTES?

This is your second wake-up call. Don’t let it be your second regret.

Secure your future before the opportunity is gone – again. Join us now and get yourself started on an adventure.

Your future is not going to wait. Why should you?
