Biography

Dr. Predrag K. Nikolic is an internationally acclaimed educator, user experience and interaction designer, emerging media artist, and researcher whose work redefines the boundaries between artificial intelligence, design, technology, and art. With over two decades of global experience in digital media education and research, he is widely recognized for pioneering innovative approaches that merge AI with interactive media, immersive environments, and generative art.

Dr. Nikolic’s creative portfolio explores the evolving relationship between human creativity and intelligent systems. His notable project, Syntropic Counterpoints, features AI-driven installations and digital performances that provoke critical reflection on the societal implications of emerging technologies. His multimedia works delve into the intersections of perception, cognition, and machine learning, transforming complex technological ideas into accessible, thought-provoking experiences.

Before joining Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus, Dr. Nikolic held esteemed academic positions across the globe including the United States, China, Norway, Serbia, and the Bahamas. Dr. Nikolic’s academic positions have included Professor and Chair of the Graduate UX Design Program at the College for Creative Studies United States, Associate Professor and Program Lead at the University of the Bahamas Faculty of Liberal Arts, Associate Professor, and Principal Investigator at the School of Creativity and Art ShanghaiTech University China, Visiting Professor at the China Academy of Art China, Associate Professor of Digital Media Design at the Cheung Kong School of Art and Design at Shantou University China, Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Digital Production at Educons University Serbia, Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design University of Bergen Norway, Assistant Professor at Metropolitan University Serbia. Complementing his academic career, Dr. Nikolic has also gained valuable experience in the creative industries. He has held key digital and strategic roles at agencies such as Grey Worldwide, Wunderman Thompson Worldwide, and Ogilvy Greece; served as Head of Digital Marketing at Groundlink USA; worked as a Data Analytics Consultant at Yahoo USA; and was Managing Director at JadePremier UK.

His work has been showcased at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals and conferences, including Ars Electronica, SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, ISEA (International Symposium on Electronic Art), ACM Multimedia, ARTECH, Technarte, and EmTech by MIT Technology Review.

Dr. Nikolic is the Editor-in-Chief of EAI Endorsed Transactions on Creative Technologies, a Fellow of the European Alliance for Innovation (EAI), and an active curator of international exhibitions. He regularly serves on committees for major global conferences in design, media, and creative technologies.
