Biography

I am an Architect, Academic, and Researcher with a strong background in practice, teaching, and innovation in sustainable architecture and building sciences.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Madras (Dr. MGR Engineering College) and a Master’s degree in Architecture (Building Science) from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, where I was awarded the Gold Medal for academic proficiency (2009). I completed my PhD in Architecture in 2020 and have published research in reputed international journals. In recognition of my contributions to sustainable materials, I was granted a Patent (No. 361012, Dt. 12/03/2021) for developing a building brick made from industrial and agricultural waste.

Further, I pursued a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Kazimierz Pulaski University of Technology & Humanities, Radom, Poland 2024, on the project “IoT-based Simulation Modeling and Prediction for Indoor Air Quality in an Urban Apartment – Case of Chennai using Native Plants.”

With over two decades of academic and professional experience, I have served as Dean, Faculty of Architecture at Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute, Chennai, while continuing my architectural practice. My design portfolio spans residential projects in Chennai, hospitality projects (including Benz Park Hotels in Chennai & Vellore), and institutional campuses such as ACS Medical College and Hospitals.

I actively contribute to the profession as an Expert Committee Member with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Council of Architecture (COA). I also hold memberships with several professional bodies, including the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), the Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID), and serve as a Board of Studies Member at Alagappa University and Doctoral Committee Member across various universities.
Presently I have joined as a Lecturer, Interior Architecture, at Swinburne University, Sarawak Campus, Malaysia.

My work bridges sustainability, technology, and design innovation, aiming to create built environments that are both environmentally responsible and contextually relevant.
