Roine Leiringer holds a MSc in Civil Engineering and a PhD in Industrial Economics and Management, both from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, and was in 2010 awarded the academic title Docent in construction management at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. He has previously held academic positions at the University of Hong Kong, Chalmers University of Technology, University or Reading and University of Manchester/UMIST.
Roine´s main areas of research lie within the domains of management of construction and project organising. His work is positioned within the ‘critical turn’ of management studies and seeks to challenge orthodoxy and offer alternative perspectives and explanations to construction management ‘problems’. Roine was an Associate Editor (2011-2016) and then joint Editor-in-Chief (2017-2019) of Construction Management and Economics and is the joint editor of the book “A Research Agenda for Construction Management” (published in 2023). He has been involved in the development of two regional networks of researchers: as secretary and inaugural committee member of the Construction Researchers on Economics and Organisation in the Nordic region (CREON) Network (in 2011), and as one of the four co-founders of the West Africa Built Environment Research (WABER) conference series (established in 2009). He also initiated and jointly coordinated the CIB task group (TG 84) on ‘Construction Reform’ (2011-2012).
Roine has been a visiting Professor at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden (2016-2017) and Universidad ORT Uruguay (2011-2016). He has further been an invited visiting academic to academic institutions in Australia, India, South Africa, Sweden and the UK, and has acted as an examiner for PhDs at universities in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, South Africa, Sweden and the UK. He is always happy to discuss potential PhD projects with applicants who have a critical mind-set.
I am always happy to discuss Postgraduate Research projects with potential applicants. Email me at [email protected]
