For Malaysia, this means designing for the tropical climate, using local knowledge, strengthening local supply chains, respecting cultural identity and considering the economic realities of businesses and communities. This is the real meaning of “glocal” thinking: global knowledge translated into local intelligence.
The Greatest Opportunity Begins with Better Decisions
The greatest opportunity for sustainable and regenerative design begins long before construction.
It begins with a simple question: can we create more value while using fewer resources?
That question can influence how businesses use energy, space, materials and other resources. Individually, these decisions may appear small, but collectively they can influence operating costs, efficiency, employee wellbeing, customer experience and long-term business value.
For me, this is the deeper meaning of Thinking Global, Designing Local.
It is not simply about designing greener buildings. It is about recognising that good environmental decisions can also be good business decisions. For SMEs, this creates a powerful opportunity to grow and remain competitive by creating greater value from the resources they already have.
Think globally. Design locally. Use resources intelligently and create lasting business value.
