Marione obtained her Bachelor of Science in Education (TESL) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) before getting her Master of Arts (Applied Linguistic) from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). She started her journey in tertiary teaching at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Campus as a language staff, teaching English subjects such as Consolidating English Skills (BEL120), Intermediate English (BEL260) and English for Academic Purposes (BEL311), mainly for undergraduate students.
In 2011, she joined Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus as a language lecturer. She was assigned to teach the various levels in Intensive English (IE) Course, teaching mainly reading and writing units. Later, she was also involved in the teaching of the various units for all the levels in English for Academic Purpose (EAP). Other than teaching English courses for pathway programs, she is also teaching the English units for Foundation studies such as Foundation English (Part A) and Academic Reading and Writing (Part B). Besides, she also contributes to the English short courses such as English Enhancement Program (EEP) as teaching staff.
Marione is interested to look into the perceptions of both the teaching staff and the learners of English in the teaching and learning elements of ESL classrooms. This includes elements like the English teaching methodology, the involvement of technology, especially since the acceptance of e-learning, the widespread of synchronous and asynchronous language classrooms and also the fundamentals of classroom managements, especially in an online classroom setting.
