FTES: Your Degree. Fully Funded by the Sarawak Government

Who qualifies?
  • Sarawakians with a 'K' in their IC (or Malaysians with a Sarawakian parent with 'K' in their IC)
  • First undergraduate degree
  • Not receiving any other full scholarship or sponsorship
  • Meets academic entry requirement for the chosen Swinburne FTES-approved programme
What is covered? Full tuition fees.
Stipend Eligible students from households with per capita income of RM1,500 or below may receive up to RM15,000 annually.
Bond / Repayment? None.

Off-Campus Open Day

Do I need to register, or can I just show up?
Come by anytime within the event hours for your town. We encourage you to register your interest, so we can expect your arrival.

Who is Open Day for?
SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level and A-Level leavers and graduates; parents and guardians welcome.

What should I bring?
Your MyKad (or a certified passport copy) and your academic results, as well as any tertiary transcripts if you have them. Bring them if you'd like to apply on the day.

Will I get to see the campus?
Planning to be in Kuching? Ask our course counsellor about arranging a campus tour.

FTES and Other Education Financial Assistance

Does FTES cover Foundation or Diploma?
FTES is for eligible degree programmes. For Foundation or Diploma programmes, ask our course counsellor about the BP40 financial scheme and other education aid. For more information on FTES, please visit https://www.swinburne.edu.my/free-education/

What is BP40?
BP40 is a Yayasan Sarawak bursary that lets eligible Sarawakian Bumiputera students study at tuition fees comparable to a Malaysian public university. BP40 covers Foundation, Diploma and Degree. For more information on BP40, please visit https://www.swinburne.edu.my/apply-now-bp40/en.html

What financial aid options are available?
Aside from the BP40 financial assistance scheme, we also offer Swinburne Sarawak's internal scholarships, as well as the availability of Yayasan Sarawak financial support. Ask our Course Counsellor – we'll help you find the right option.

Applying and Intake

Can I apply at the off-campus Open Day event?
Yes. On-the-spot applications are accepted. Please ask us how you can apply.

When is the next intake? Can I still make it?
Next intake is 1 September 2026, for Foundation, Diploma and Degree. Applications close 4 September 2026, so yes, you can still apply while attending this Open Day.

What if I'm still waiting for my results?
Our Course Counsellor can talk you through a conditional offer.

Not at all. Drop by, ask your questions, and take your time - there's no obligation.

My English isn't strong - can I still get in?
Meet us and ask about the Swinburne English Enhancement Program (SEEP).

What support is there if I'm far from home?
Ask us about our student support services, especially for campus community living far from home.

Can my parents or family come with me?
Yes, please bring them. Parents and guardians are very welcome.

Can I start here and continue in Australia?
