Associate Professor Moritz Mueller from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak is a co-investigator of the Newton-Ungku Omar Funded project awarded to a multinational team of researchers led by Dr Claire Evans from the National Oceanography Centre, UK and Dr Aazani Mujahid from the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). The core of the project is on riverine processes and integrating the human dimension into the study of coastal processes.
Most of the works were undertaken in Maludam, Sebuyau, Simunjan, Rajang, and coastal waters off Sarawak. The majority of the scientific results are currently being submitted to a Special Issue in the journal Biogeosciences and were shared during other events such as workshops and conferences. One of the main aims of the knowledge sharing sessions was to provide a platform for department and agencies to share experiences and to build cooperation for solution finding on related river issues in Sarawak.
