Talk on Wastewater Treatment and Industry 4.0

After the successful webinar event of smelting process on 2nd September, School of Chemical Engineering and Science organized yet another one on water treatment due to high demand from our students. Given that it was just the 2nd week in this new semester, so there were good reasons to allow our students to quest their thirst to know industrial techniques and for learning professional practice. Therefore, our school invited Mr. Lim Kai Keng who is a Business Development Manager for ECO Solution, Johor Bahru and Mr. Raymond who is the Director for the Oasis Chemicals, Kuching to share their professional experience through MS Teams. Both of them have more than 15 years of experience in water/wastewater treatment instrumentation and processes. Mr. Lim shared the knowledge from his professional expertise and talked us through the considerations and obstacles in water treatment processes.
Moreover, being a chemical engineer by training himself, Mr. Lim shared his view on the career pathways in this field for our graduate students. Besides, he also elaborately discussed the Industry 4.0 revolution, and by example, he showed how that integrated system had been implemented in this very niche of the industrial process. At the end of the talk, there was a good exchange between the students and our guest speakers. Students had their many questions answered and clearer vision about the career path in water treatment processes. Eco Solution Services generously agrees to take up to 2 intern students for industrial placement and also the opportunities to work after being graduated. Dr. Bazlul Mobin Siddique from the School of Chemical Engineering and Science delivered the introductory speech and presided over the event. Dr. Elaine Yeu from the same school presented a certificate as an appreciation to both the guests.
