KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus will be holding its Open Day on Saturday, 15 June 2024, offering prospective students the opportunity to gain first-hand information on pursuing an affordable world-class Australian education closer to home.

The event will take place at the university’s campus located along Jalan Simpang Tiga from 10am to 4pm. Open to all members of the public, it is especially aimed at SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level and UEC school leavers seeking to further their studies.

The next-generation university offers not only globally-ranked programs but also Work Integrated Learning, modern facilities, flexible exchange and transfer options, a dynamic student experience and much more.

At the Open Day, students and parents can meet directly with education counsellors and academic experts to explore the courses offered by the university in a diverse range of fields, from business to computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts as well as media and education.

Swinburne Sarawak’s programs are undifferentiated from its home campus in Melbourne in terms of curriculum and learning outcomes, earning students the same testamurs and qualifications as their Australian peers.

Besides courses, visitors can find out more about scholarships and financial aid options at the Open Day. These include internal merit scholarships offered by the university at different levels of study, in addition to those offered by external providers. Yayasan Sarawak will also be present at the event to offer consultations on scholarships and financial assistance.

During the event, visitors will be able to tune in to exclusive talks on “Study Loans, Scholarships, Bursaries and Financial Aid” by Yayasan Sarawak. Students and parents can also catch an insightful pathway talk session presented by the university’s academics to gain a better understanding of the study options available.

Malaysia Aviation Group will also be setting up a booth at the Open Day. Students will be able to instantly sign up for the MHexplorer program, a student traveller program offered by Malaysia Airlines. MHexplorer is a membership program specifically designed for students aged between 13 to 26 years, offering a range benefits such as flight discounts, extra baggage and more.

One of the Open Day’s key highlights is the opportunity for prospective students to experience life as a Swinburne Sarawak student by taking guided tours of the campus and connecting with current students and the Swinburne community.

On top of touring the university’s existing facilities, visitors can catch a glimpse of Swinburne Sarawak’s highly anticipated campus upgrades. The comprehensive infrastructure upgrades initiated in 2019 are aimed at enhancing the campus experience and providing students with a world-class teaching and learning environment.

The university will be receiving on-the-spot applications at the Open Day. Eligible students applying for admission will receive their Letter of Offer on the same day. For application purposes, prospective students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or a certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level and so on).
