KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus proudly introduced its global pathway to earn a Bachelor of Design (Interior Architecture) (Honours) during its GradX 2025 event on 14 June 2025.
Through this 2+2 Global Pathway, students will enrol in the Bachelor of Design program from the start of their studies at Swinburne Sarawak. They will complete the first two years of the degree locally, followed by two final years at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, graduating with the Bachelor of Design (Interior Architecture) (Honours).
This launch marks a significant advancement in making globally competitive design education more accessible to students in East Malaysia as well as throughout Southeast Asia and beyond. The program is designed to cultivate both creative innovation and practical skills, aligned with the high standards of Swinburne’s established offerings in Melbourne.
The Interior Architecture program is highly regarded within the design industry, with graduates securing employment in a wide range of sectors including luxury hotels, retail design, healthcare facilities, and specialised environments such as defence laboratories.
The curriculum focuses on essential design competencies such as space management, construction methods, material studies, and digital software proficiency, while also nurturing students’ creativity and critical thinking.
Industry engagement is a cornerstone of the program, with structured real-world learning experiences seamlessly integrated throughout the curriculum. This approach ensures that graduates are equipped not only with strong theoretical foundations but also with the practical skills and industry insights demanded by today’s design sector.
Swinburne graduates are consistently sought after by leading architecture firms in Melbourne, and many have gone on to establish successful design practices of their own.
The pathway also offers a more cost-effective option by allowing students to complete the first two years at Swinburne Sarawak while still earning a highly regarded Australian degree in Interior Architecture – delivering both international recognition and financial accessibility.
With its global relevance and industry-focused curriculum, the program is designed to attract aspiring designers not only from East Malaysia and Southeast Asia but also from across the broader Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
The introduction of this program reflects Swinburne Sarawak’s commitment to expanding access to global education pathways and supporting the growth of design excellence in the region.
