Swinburne ranks in JobStreet.com Top 10 Preferred Private Universities in Malaysia

KUCHING Swinburne University of Technology is recognised as one of the country’s Top 10 Preferred Private Universities by JobStreet.com.

The recognition augurs well for Swinburne’s campus in Kuching as the university offers quality and affordable Australian education where the courses offered are identical to those at the Melbourne campus. Students study the same units and sit for examinations moderated by its home campus in Melbourne. Upon completion of their studies, students are awarded their parchment directly from Swinburne Melbourne that allows graduates to widen their job prospects locally and abroad.

An Australian qualification from Swinburne provides graduates with an edge in the workplace. As a result, Swinburne’s graduate employment rate continuously tops 90% as the graduates are future-ready and are well-positioned to start their career.

A total of four professional bodies, five public universities, and 10 private universities were selected, recognised and endorsed by JobStreet in its Preferred University and Preferred Professional Body Programme.

The selection criteria for the Preferred University were based on their strong collaboration with industry partners, the demand and supply from the job market, employers’ recommendation and the Universities Graduate Employability Review.

Swinburne’s Manager of Student Engagement Ruhazlina Syam Abdol Hazis who received the award on behalf of the university at a recent ceremony commented that the recognition provides Swinburne’s students higher chances of securing internship placements and widen the graduates’ employment prospects.

Referring to a recent survey by JobStreet, the Country Manager of JobStreet Malaysia Gan Bock Herm said that 79% of employers perceived the need for more quality graduates in the job market.

“Through this Preferred Programme, employers will now have access to a bigger pool of relevant and quality candidates,” commented Gan.

Also listed in the JobStreet.com Preferred Private Universities are Asia Pacific University (APU), INTI International University & Colleges, Monash University Malaysia, Multimedia University (MMU), Sunway University, Taylor’s University, The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).

Under the Preferred Public Universities, the listed institutions are Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

With the JobStreet.com Preferred Programme, all selected universities and professional bodies are allowed to use the JobStreet.com Preferred Logo for the whole year of 2019. The institutions’ information and logos will also be published on JobStreet website. The programme will be promoted to more than 90,000 active employers in Malaysia.

With a worldwide network of over 180,000 alumni, Swinburne is highly ranked in prestigious world academic ranking lists. It is ranked in the Top 3% globally (QS World University Rankings 2019), Top 50 under 50 (QS World University Rankings 2019) and Top 40 in the world for Art & Design (QS World Rankings of University by Subject 2018).

Swinburne’s Kuching campus has strong graduate outcomes due to the university’s close collaboration with the industry. Its courses, developed based on industry input, are carefully monitored for their academic quality, career relevance, and compliance with Malaysian and Australian qualifications standards.

Furthermore, degree students have the options to transfer or go on an exchange programme to the Melbourne campus which allow them to widen their learning experience in a new setting, acquire new skills and expand their network.
