Swinburne Sarawak and Sarawak E-Commerce Association sign MoU to deliver Sarawak Digital Enabler Program

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus and Sarawak E-Commerce Association (SECA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop and deliver the Sarawak Digital Enabler Program.

The MoU Exchange Ceremony was held at Swinburne Sarawak on 9 March 2023, where the MoU was signed by representatives from both parties. Representing Swinburne Sarawak were its Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer Ir Professor Lau Hieng Ho and Swinburne Innovation Malaysia (SWIM) Chief Executive Officer Professor Wallace Wong Shung Hui, while SECA was represented by its Chairman, Mr Chew Heo Lee.

The Sarawak Digital Enabler Program, which is funded through the Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) Business Recovery Assistance Fund, is aimed at equipping entrepreneurs and small business owners with the necessary digital skills and knowledge to improve their digital presence and sales and marketing performance.

The training program is a collaborative effort between Swinburne Sarawak, SECA, Zhejiang Yuexiu University, Pute Holdings and Sparkit Academy.

The program consists of eight ‘future talk’ sessions covering business ideation and proposal development, marketing and content creation as well as data analytics and partnership agreements, followed by two months of hands-on training, mentorship and guidance.

In his address, Professor Lau expressed his excitement about the program and how it aligns with the university’s vision of people and technology working together to build a better world. He also highlighted the importance of adapting to the changing world and developing new skills to stay competitive.

Mr Chew spoke about the importance of promoting e-commerce in Sarawak and how the Sarawak Digital Enabler Program is a significant step towards that goal. He also expressed his gratitude towards Zhejiang Yuexiu University, Pute Holdings, Sparkit Academy, SECA members and partners for their ongoing support of the project.

The Sarawak Digital Enabler Program is a valuable initiative that aims to help individuals and businesses succeed in the digital world and make a positive impact in their communities.
