Swinburne Sarawak, CMM to collaborate in training and consultancy projects

KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus and Centre for Modern Management (CMM) are set to collaborate in training and consultancy projects after they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at a leading hotel in Bintulu, recently.

The signing of the MOU was witnessed by Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi bin Abdul Ghani, State Secretary of Sarawak. It took place during the High Performance Team Retreat for about 150 heads of departments and CEOs of statutory bodies as well as government-linked companies, which was launched by Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud, Chief Minister of Sarawak.

Swinburne Sarawak’s Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Professor Anthony Cahalan, was the signatory for the university while CMM’s Board of Director, Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki, signed for the company.

Also present were Syeed Mohd Hussien, Chief Executive Officer of CMM and Datu Dr Haji Julaihi Haji Bujang, Director of Government and External Liaison, Swinburne Sarawak.

Under the MOU, the two parties are to collaborate in three areas: special programs, joint consultancy activities in the field of human resources and organizational development, and joint training programs.

In addition, the two parties are to cooperate in providing training activities including public conferences, seminars, workshops and short courses of areas of mutual interest.

Both institutions are to design and offer courses of studies suitable for the public and private sectors. The first project to be developed and delivered by Swinburne Sarawak for the State’s civil service officers as a result of the MOU is the Master of Human Resource Management program. CMM, a state-owned training centre which conducts conferences, seminars, public courses, in–house training courses for the public and private sectors, is the partner in this venture.
