Swinburne Sarawak holds Application Day for foundation intake

KUCHING – SPM graduates could apply for foundation courses at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus during its Application Day this Saturday (19 March) and the following Saturday (26 March).

While the university will continue to accept applications from Monday to Friday, applicants could obtain in-depth course details from the university’s teaching staff from 10am to 5pm during the two Saturdays.

Information on scholarships and other financial aid schemes will also be available.

Course applicants are requested to furnish their result slip and MyKad. Those in the Sri Aman, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri areas may apply through the university’s representatives. Details are obtainable at swinburne.edu.my/study-with-us/foundation

Swinburne Sarawak’s foundation courses in business, design, engineering/science and IT/multimedia will begin on 28 March.

The one-year courses are designed to equip SPM school leavers for degree studies.

Its bachelor’s degrees in business, computing, design, engineering and biotechnology may be completed entirely at Swinburne Sarawak.

Undergraduates could transfer to the home campus in Melbourne to conclude their studies, while an exchange programme allows them to undertake part of their education at Swinburne’s campus in Australia or partner universities in Germany and South Korea.

The curriculum of a Swinburne programme emphasises work-integrated learning. Many of its professionally accredited courses require engagement with industry such as industrial placements for engineering students.

Swinburne Sarawak graduates are awarded the internationally recognised parchment by the home campus. In the past few years, more than 90% have been absorbed by the industry within six months of graduating.

The university has a strong commitment to research and was recently awarded a three-star rating by the Malaysia Research Assessment Instrument.

It is also a recipient of the SETARA Tier 5: Excellent Status, having been awarded in 2009, 2011 and 2013.

The Times Higher education ranks Swinburne as one of the top 100 universities under the age of 50 in the world, while the Academic Ranking of World Universities rates Swinburne among the top 3% of universities in the world.
