Swinburne Sarawak to hold Open Day events in Miri and Bintulu this weekend

KUCHING – High school leavers seeking to pursue an Australian tertiary education at a fraction of the cost are encouraged to visit Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Open Day events in Miri and Bintulu this weekend.

The Open Day in Miri will be held from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, 20 May 2023 at Pullman Miri Waterfront, followed by the event in Bintulu from 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday, 21 May 2023 at Parkcity Everly Hotel. Both events are open to members of the public.

The Open Days are excellent opportunities for prospective students to gain first-hand information on Swinburne Sarawak’s globally-ranked courses, modern facilities, work-integrated learning, exchange and transfer options, student life, accommodation and more.

Students who are ready to embark on their university journey will be able to meet one-on-one with Swinburne Sarawak’s academic experts and education counsellors to discover courses offered in various disciplines, including business, computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts, media and education.

The university has introduced new programs including the Diploma of Information Technology, Diploma of Digital Media Design and Diploma of Early Childhood Education, and students can learn more about these during their visit.

Aside from courses, visitors can explore scholarships and financial aid options. These include internal merit scholarships offered by the university at different levels of study in addition to those offered by external providers such as Yayasan Sarawak and Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN).

Prospective students who meet Swinburne Sarawak’s entry criteria and apply on the spot at both of the Open Day events will receive a Letter of Eligibility and a Foodpanda voucher. To facilitate the application process, students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level and so on). Trial results are accepted.

The Open Day events will also feature two insightful talks on engineering and information technology by the university’s academic experts, respectively titled ‘Demystifying Industry 4.0’ and ‘IT Education Paving Way to Rewarding Careers’. The talks are a great opportunity for students to better understand these areas of study and their career prospects.
