Swinburne to hold Info Day on Saturday

KUCHING – SPM and STPM school leavers who are interested to find out more about tertiary education options can do so at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Info Day this Saturday (21 June).

Students and their parents will be able to obtain more information on foundation, diploma and degree courses at the premises of the university on Jalan Simpang Tiga from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Academics from the university’s schools of Language and Foundation, Engineering and Science, Business and Enterprise, Computing and Design will be available to provide information on courses, application and the like.

Apart from giving an overview of the courses offered at Swinburne Sarawak from 10:30am to 12:00pm and from 2:00pm to 3:30pm on the day, the heads of schools will also be present to answer any queries from parents and students.

Swinburne Sarawak currently offers one-year foundation studies with majors in business, design, engineering/science, and information technology/multimedia.
These are pre-university courses designed to prepare SPM school leavers for entry into undergraduate courses, which are undifferentiated from those offered by its home campus in Melbourne, at Swinburne Sarawak.

Students also have the option to complete their undergraduate studies entirely in Kuching or at its campus in Melbourne although the same Australian degree is awarded to its graduates.

Intake for foundation courses at Swinburne Sarawak starts on 28 July while that for diploma and degree is on 4 August.

On Info day, application fees for students who meet the criteria for entry into a course will be waived and offered a place to further their studies at Swinburne Sarawak. As such students are requested to provide their public exam results.

Meanwhile, students who have yet to decide on their career paths can take an aptitude test to determine their interests and strengths. Student counsellors from the university will then analyse and interpret the results and offer guidance on the area of study the students may pursue.

For enquiries on study loans and scholarships, staff from Yayasan Sarawak will be available to provide details.
