Congratulations: Associate Professor Moritz Mueller - National Environment Research Council (NERC) – National Science Foundation (UK - Singapore) fund

Wednesday 1 September 2021

Heartiest congratulations to Associate Professor Moritz Muller on his recent achievement of securing the National Environment Research Council (NERC) – National Science Foundation (UK - Singapore) fund on "Understanding the Impact of Plastic Pollution on Marine Ecosystems in South East Asia (South East Asia Plastics (SEAP). The overall project value is RM8 Million.

His project, "Sources, impacts and solutions for plastics in South East Asia coastal environments", will investigate biodegradation of microplastics, as well as the co-pollutant potential and toxicity linked to the attachment of organic pollutants or pathogens to plastic particles.

This project aligns with Moon Shot 3; Every Swinburne partner gets a tech solution, and Moon Shot 4; Swinburne is the prototype of global best practice.

Assoc. Prof. Moritz Muller's international collaboration with the University of Stirling, Heriot-Watt University, National Oceanography Centre, Universitas Brawijaya, Kasetsart University, Nanyang Technological University and the University of Mons will inform the development of new policies around sustainable production, biorecycling and food safety.

We wish you success in your research endeavours.
