Finalist spots in IChemE Malaysia Awards

Thursday 2 September 2021

The School of Chemical Engineering and Science has secured two finalist spots in the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Malaysia Awards 2021, demonstrating its excellence once again in the field of chemical engineering.

Nominated for the Young Researcher Award is Dr How Bing Shen. This is the second consecutive year the chemical engineering lecturer has been shortlisted as a finalist.

Dr How has published more than 50 journal articles and has accounted for an H-index of 14 in Google Scholar. His research interests include sustainable biomass value chain; energy planning and carbon management; process integration and optimisation; multi-criteria decision-making; and P-graph application.

According to Dr How, although he is considered a young researcher, it should not be a constraint but rather, become the “fuel” to strive for better outcomes. He thanks Swinburne Sarawak for the support and his research partners for their collaboration.

The annual IChemE Malaysia Awards celebrates excellence and innovation in various fields of chemical engineering, and provides an avenue for teams, companies, or individuals to have their projects recognised on a national level.

Due to the pandemic, the winners will be announced at IChemE’s virtual ceremony on 1 October.
