Biography

Andrea initially graduated from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak with an engineering degree. She then went on to work as a project and design engineer in the lighting industry in Kuala Lumpur for three years. After moving back to Kuching, she continued in the lighting field for another year before deciding to take up the MA (TESOL) full-time. While studying, she worked part-time teaching English. Following her graduation, she joined Swinburne as a full-time lecturer, and is currently teaching units in the Foundation program. Additionally, she is an active member of the Rotary Club of Kuching Central and has been involved in their service projects, as well as their publicity efforts.

Andrea is interested in pop culture, social media, and representations in media, and how the influence of these can engage students in learning and critical thinking. She is also keen to encourage students to read more and to improve their speaking skills.
