Biography

Dr. Carmen Chai earned her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Software Engineering in 2012. Subsequently, she gained valuable experience as a programmer with Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd for two years before transitioning to a role as a game developer at Pyxidust Studio. In 2018, she accomplished her Master of Science (Research), focusing on the development of a serious game tailored for children with visual impairment.

Delving further into the realm of serious games, Dr. Chai achieved her Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2022. Her doctoral work focused on creating a motivational serious game designed to empower children battling cancer.

In January 2024, Dr. Chai joined Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak, as a Lecturer (IT) in the Faculty of Engineering, Computing, and Science. Dr. Chai’s research interest lies in exploring the potential of serious games as tools to aid individuals, particularly in education and digital health.
