Biography

Sing Muk received his bachelor of science (BSc) in chemistry from National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2004, and his doctoral degree (PhD) in analytical chemistry from The University of Manchester (UoM) in 2007. Upon completed his doctoral degree, he was appointed as a research associate at UoM, dealing with trace analysis using quartz microbalance technology. He then joined Kyungpook National University, Korea as a post-doctoral researcher under the Biomedical Research Institute. He led a research group that develops smart biomaterials for tissue engineering. He joined Swinburne Sarawak end of 2009 as a lecturer under the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science. He is promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2013 and Associate Professor in 2017 at the same faculty. Currently, he is heading the Swinburne Sarawak Research Centre for Sustainable Technologies in promoting the University research agendas.

His research interest focuses on the development of bio/chemical sensors using different novel materials and detection techniques. He develops novel nanomaterials with unique optical properties and merging it with the cutting edge of biotechnology for different sensing applications such as smart farming, biomedical devices and environmental monitoring. He works closely with international and national collaborators.
