Biography

Matthew specializes in Environmental Engineering, with a particular interest in Water and Wastewater Engineering and Waste Management. He has 20 years of teaching and industrial experience with supervisory roles under the USA, Singapore, and Malaysia’s KPI-driven environment. Matthew managed to develop strategic plans and proposals for securing research and industrial project funding from the government agencies and industrial partners, such as Zabel (USA), NEA-ETRP Grant (Singapore), MIT-SMART Grant (Singapore), SRDC Grant (Malaysia), and FRGS Grant (Malaysia). He led an academic team to develop and deliver a new Master of Construction Management (by coursework) program for adult learners using the Problem-based Learning (PBL) pedagogy approach. He has been nominated and received a few awards, including Vice-Chancellor’s Industry Engagement Award (2019), Vice-Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence (2019), Top 3 Winner of Most Innovative Project Awards (2015), Commendation Award from Sembcorp Marine’s Green Wave Environmental Care Project (2015), Most Appreciated Student Mentors (2013 & 2014), and Best Certified PBL Facilitator (2011).
