Aspect Description
General Criteria

You must be offered admission on a course at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, Malaysia before you can apply for a scholarship.

Academic Criteria

Please ensure that you have checked the eligibility criteria for the scholarships.

  • SPM: 10A+s and above
  • GCE O Level: 7As and above
  • Or its equivalent
Assessment
  • Not more than 500 words of personal statement
    • Extra-curricular activities, career aspirations and experience (professional/academic)
  • Not more than 300 words of financial needs essay

Description/Course

  • For students enrolled into Foundation studies.
  • Scholarship will be awarded in the form of deduction from the 2nd semester’s tuition fees.

Academic Progression Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Achieved and maintained a CGPA of 3.85 annually.

Description/Course

  • Offered to new Foundation and undergraduate students who commence their studies in 2019 onwards.

Value

  • RM5,000 per annum off the semester tuition fee.

Dean’s Outstanding Youth Award

Eligibility

An active contributor in co-curricular activities at state and national levels.

Description/Course

  • For students who were actively involved in co-curricular activities at the state and national levels.
  • Scholarship will be deducted from the 2nd semester tuition fees.

Value

  • Up to RM5,000

BP40 Bursary Scheme

Aspect Description
Criteria
  • For Sarawakian Bumiputera only.
  • For students whose household income is RM3,000 and below (B40), and RM6,275 and below (M40).
  • For students enrolled into an approved program at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus.
  • For 2020 intakes only.
Closing Date

The closing date for the application of the bursary scheme are:

  • Foundation: 13 April | 1 September | 5 October
  • Diploma: 13 April | 1 September
  • Undergraduate degree: 2 March | 1 September | 12 October

Bumiputera Financial Scheme

Eligibility

Student whose family’s monthly income of not more than RM1500 per dependent of study at Swinburne. Must have applied for study loan from relevant government bodies before/at the start of academic session at Swinburne.

Description/Course

Open to Sarawakian Bumiputera students who are newly enrolled into a program of study at Swinburne

Siblings Rebate

Eligibility

On evidence of the (sibling) relationship to a current student and each sibling being enrolled.

Description/Course

  • Offered to the second and subsequent sibling of current Swinburne student enrolled in a full-time award bearing on full-time award-bearing program.
  • Deduction will be made from the 2nd semester tuition fees.

Value

  • 10% rebate off the 1st year’s tuition fee.

Kuching Foundation Grant

Aspect Description
General Criteria
  • Student resides or attends school in Kuching
  • Offered a place to study Foundation at Swinburne Sarawak
  • Commencement of studies in second half intakes of 2019
  • Must accept the offer before a set deadline with full payment of 1st semester tuition fee

General Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions are applicable across the range of awards and bursaries offered by Swinburne Sarawak only:

Eligibility

  • The availability of award/bursary is subject to a pre-determined quota set by the university
  • The award/bursary is only valid for studies at Swinburne Sarawak
  • The awarding of the award/bursary is conditional upon payment of full term fee
  • The offer of an award/bursary shall be based on the official academic results obtained in a single sitting
  • All awards/bursaries are to be given as course tuition fee rebate only and cannot be exchanged for cash
  • Award/bursary recipients must continue to study full-time throughout the award or bursary period
  • Students enrolled into any of the University’s Master by Coursework programs and who are studying part-time is eligible to apply for the Master by Coursework Bursary and/or the Alumni Bursary.
    • Part-time studies at the postgraduate level are for Malaysian students only.
  • The award recipient shall maintain a full study load in each term.
  • Award or bursary recipients shall contribute to Swinburne Sarawak’s activities including participation in promotional activities as and when required, during their period of study
  • Successful applicants will be notified via an award/bursary offer letter
  • The award or bursary is not-transferable
  • The award or bursary shall be forfeited if the student withdraws from the course or transfers to Swinburne Australia
  • Once the award/bursary is forfeited, it shall not be reinstated
  • The award/bursary shall be forfeited if the student fails to abide by the rules and regulations of Swinburne Sarawak
  • A student is entitled to only one award or bursary
  • A student who has been awarded an award and/or bursary by Swinburne Sarawak or any other institution shall not be eligible for another award or bursary
  • Unless otherwise approved, each student is only entitled to one award/bursary/financial assistance scheme/promotional benefits offered by Swinburne Sarawak and its group at any one time. In the event that the student qualifies for more than one award, he/she must choose which of these he/she wishes to apply and accept
  • Approval must be obtained from the Registrar of Swinburne Sarawak for leave of absence. The award shall recommence once the recipient resumes his/her studies at Swinburne Sarawak. Failure to obtain approval for leave of absence shall result in the forfeiture of the award
  • Only completed application forms received by the closing date will be entertained
  • Swinburne Sarawak shall not be responsible for any application form that is misplaced, lost or failed to reach the designated department of Swinburne Sarawak
  • Swinburne Sarawak reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the award/bursary as and when required without prior notice. All decisions of Swinburne Sarawak including those on matters not covered above are final and binding.
  • All decisions made by the Swinburne Sarawak Award Committee are final. Appeals will not be entertained.

  • The application form must be completed and signed. Incomplete application form or those containing incorrect information will be rejected
  • All the required documents listed under Document Checklist in the award/bursary application form must be certified as true copies and submitted together with the form.

Financial aids

The financial aids listed below are for reference only. The availability of the respective financial aids is at the discretion of the provider. For more information, details of each financial aids, application procedure and closing dates, students are advised to inquire with the financial aid provider directly.

Skim Pinjaman Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Sarawak (HIED)

Eligibility

  • Must be a Sarawakian.
  • Applicable for Foundation Courses in Engineering.
  • Must have received a Letter of offer from Swinburne Sarawak.
  • Have not been offered any other study loans.
  • Subject to terms and conditions stipulated by Yayasan Sarawak.

Application process

  • Complete the Yayasan Sarawak application form with these documents:
    • Offer letter from Swinburne University of Technology
    • Both parents latest pay slips (if applicable)
    • Income tax form / Government Pensioner Slip/ Verified letter for parents not working (if applicable)
    • SPM certificate
    • Applicant’s Birth Certificate
    • Applicant’s IC (Front & Back)
    • Parents’ IC (Front & Back)
    • Parents’ Death Certificate (If applicable)

Fully completed forms are to be submitted to Student Information Centre, studentHQ, Swinburne. The University will assist to submit the application to Yayasan Sarawak.

Your application is subjected to the approval and at the discretion of Yayasan Sarawak.

Biasiswa Pinjaman Pelajaran Yayasan Sarawak

Eligibility

  • Must be a Sarawakian.
  • Applicable for all Foundation Courses.
  • Must have received a Letter of offer from Swinburne Sarawak.
  • Have not been offered any other study loans.
  • Subject to terms and conditions stipulated by Yayasan Sarawak.

Application process

There are 2 steps to the application process:

Step 1: Submit your application online on the Yayasan Sarawak website: http://175.138.68.197:51/iwps/

(You do not need to upload the documents online)

Step 2: Fill in the hardcopy form with these documents:

  • Offer letter from Swinburne University of Technology
  • Proof of online application has been submitted (sent to the Applicant’s email)
  • Both parents latest pay slips (if applicable)
  • Income tax form / Government Pensioner Slip/ Verified letter for parents not working (if applicable)
  • SPM certificate
  • Applicant’s Birth Certificate
