MELOLISA Foundation Scholarship 

The MELOLISA Foundation Scholarship for 2020 intake is now open for application. Details appended below:

General Criteria

MELOLISA Foundation, a charitable organisation, is actively involved in benevolent activities in Malaysia. The 2020 MELOLISA Foundation Scholarship is awarded TO DESERVING Malaysian students to pursue their bachelor degrees at Swinburne Sarawak.

Value of Award

The award value shall be up to 75% of the tuition fee. However, the awarded amount of scholarship shall be at the discretion of MELOLISA Foundation and may be reviewed on a yearly basis.

Eligibility
  • The applicant must be a Malaysian citizen
  • Priority will be given to applicants who are financially in need
Criteria
  • The applicant must have good academic results for STPM. Students from other institutions of higher learning must have a CGPA of 3.0 and above.
  • The applicant has received an offer of study by the University.
  • Priority shall be given to an applicant who shall be the first in the family to graduate with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Priority shall be given to applicants pursuing Bachelor of Business (Accounting), Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Finance), Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical).
  • Recipients of the scholarship must maintain a CGPA of 3.0 and above throughout the course of study at the University to continue to be eligible for the scholarship.
  • A scholarship recipient shall return all monies received if he/she transfers overseas, withdraws or drops out from his/her programme or fails to continue to be eligible for the scholarship without a good reason for such failure. Each case shall be reviewed and determined independently.

In addition to the financial standing and academic achievements of the applicant, the organisation will also take into consideration the following:

  • Attributes which indicate that the applicant is likely to become an outstanding citizen;
  • Personal qualities and character, and the extent to which the applicant has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities;
  • Participations and achievements in extra-curricular activities including sports and community / university services.

It is compulsory for the recipient of the scholarship to attend and graduate from the course at an Outward Bound School identified by the MELOLISA Foundation before the final year of his/her degree programme, unless waiver is given by the MELOLISA Foundation. The fee for participation shall be sponsored by MELOLISA Foundation whereas the transportation cost to the outward bound school shall be borne by the individual scholarship recipients respectively.

  2. The application form, must be signed by the applicant. Incomplete application forms or those containing incorrect information will be rejected.
  3. The following documents must be certified and attached with the application form:
    • Academic result transcripts;
    • Parents’ salary slips (latest 3 months) or business statement, and the latest Income Tax Return Form;
    • Applicant’s self-statement demonstrating the need for financial assistance, including stating the number of siblings, their age and their respective level of education, together with any other information to support the application.

The scholarship award recipient shall be bonded to work with MELOLISA Foundation, its associated or related companies and/or with the University, for a duration of three to four years, depending on the length of the course, unless he/she is released from this condition. The MELOLISA Foundation shall have a three-month option to employ the scholarship recipient after his/ her graduation.

All scholarship award recipients must study fulltime throughout the scholarship period.

The foundation is not obligated to award the scholarship if there is no suitable and qualified candidate for the year.

Closing Date

The closing date for application for the MELOLISA Foundation Scholarship is on 9 October 2020. Applicants may apply for the scholarship as soon they receive a Letter of Offer for enrolment from the University.

General Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions are applicable across the range of awards and bursaries offered by Swinburne Sarawak only:

Eligibility

  • The availability of award/bursary is subject to a pre-determined quota set by the university
  • The award/bursary is only valid for studies at Swinburne Sarawak
  • The awarding of the award/bursary is conditional upon payment of full term fee
  • The offer of an award/bursary shall be based on the official academic results obtained in a single sitting
  • All awards/bursaries are to be given as course tuition fee rebate only and cannot be exchanged for cash
  • Award/bursary recipients must continue to study full-time throughout the award or bursary period
  • Students enrolled into any of the University’s Master by Coursework programs and who are studying part-time is eligible to apply for the Master by Coursework Bursary and/or the Alumni Bursary.
    • Part-time studies at the postgraduate level are for Malaysian students only.
  • The award recipient shall maintain a full study load in each term.
  • Award or bursary recipients shall contribute to Swinburne Sarawak’s activities including participation in promotional activities as and when required, during their period of study
  • Successful applicants will be notified via an award/bursary offer letter
  • The award or bursary is not-transferable
  • The award or bursary shall be forfeited if the student withdraws from the course or transfers to Swinburne Australia
  • Once the award/bursary is forfeited, it shall not be reinstated
  • The award/bursary shall be forfeited if the student fails to abide by the rules and regulations of Swinburne Sarawak
  • A student is entitled to only one award or bursary
  • A student who has been awarded an award and/or bursary by Swinburne Sarawak or any other institution shall not be eligible for another award or bursary
  • Unless otherwise approved, each student is only entitled to one award/bursary/financial assistance scheme/promotional benefits offered by Swinburne Sarawak and its group at any one time. In the event that the student qualifies for more than one award, he/she must choose which of these he/she wishes to apply and accept
  • Approval must be obtained from the Registrar of Swinburne Sarawak for leave of absence. The award shall recommence once the recipient resumes his/her studies at Swinburne Sarawak. Failure to obtain approval for leave of absence shall result in the forfeiture of the award
  • Only completed application forms received by the closing date will be entertained
  • Swinburne Sarawak shall not be responsible for any application form that is misplaced, lost or failed to reach the designated department of Swinburne Sarawak
  • Swinburne Sarawak reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the award/bursary as and when required without prior notice. All decisions of Swinburne Sarawak including those on matters not covered above are final and binding.
  • All decisions made by the Swinburne Sarawak Award Committee are final. Appeals will not be entertained.

Open to full-time, active and current undergraduate students enrolled in a selected institution of higher learning.

  • Application must be made online via www.mara.gov.my, starting from Monday 13 April 2020 to Monday 4 May 2020 at 12.00pm.
  • Applicant must fulfill the stated Terms and Conditions, and stipulated academic criteria.
  • MARA have the right to revoke an offer of financial loan should there be discrepancy in any of the information provided by the applicant.
General Terms
  • Malaysian citizens
  • The applicant and a parent is a Bumiputera.
  • Fulfilled the Socio-Economic Status (SES) as stipulated by MARA where combined household income is no more than RM180,000 a year.
  • For those who are employed abroad or is self-employed, the net monthly income must be RM15,000 and below.
  • Applicant and his parents/guardian is not blacklisted by MARA.
  • Have never received any offer of an education loan for the same level of study.
  • Is free from chronic illnesses / diseases / illness requiring long-term treatment.
  • Have not reached the maximum age of 40 years old.
Academic Criteria

New students

  • Attained a CGPA > 3.00 in Foundation / Matriculation / STPM or its equivalent

Current students

  • Attained a CGPA > 3.00 in the previous semester AND
  • Is NOT in the final year of study.

Other conditions

  • Attained a credit in Bahasa Melayu for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)
  • The academic criteria for programs in medicine, dentistry and pharmacy must be in accordance to the requirements stipulated by its related professional bodies.

Skim Biasiswa Yayasan Sarawak Tun Taib

Eligibility

Description
The Yayasan Sarawak Tun Taib Scholarship aims to recognize and reward academically gifted students who have also shown strong leadership skills and are active in community engagement.

Recipients of this scholarship will have the opportunity to serve in the public sector of the Sarawak State Government, as and when needed.

Yayasan KLK Scholarship

Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (“KLK”) is a company incorporated in Malaysia and listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad with a market capitalisation of approximately RM24.931 billion at the end of September 2019.

Yayasan KLK, a foundation established by KLK, offers scholarships to high-achieving young Malaysians who are studying or have gained a place at any Malaysian institutions of higher learning. Upon graduation, scholars may be offered the opportunity to work in KLK or its business units.

While undergoing tertiary education, scholars’ academic performance is monitored and they are expected to undergo practical training within the Group. Such monitoring is necessary as it ensures only the best talents are subsequently recruited to continue the Group’s tradition of leadership excellence.

Criteria/Eligibility

  • Must be a Malaysian citizen.
  • Good academic results (STPM, A-Levels or equivalent – minimum 2As/Foundation – minimum CGPA of 3.5).
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Active participation in extracurricular activities.
  • Must have a confirmed placement from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak.
  • Not bonded, holding any other scholarships or receiving assistance from any organisation.
  • Be prepared to serve a three (3) year bond with the Group at any location upon graduation.

Scholarship Value

Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN)

Eligibility

  • The loan is applicable for Malaysian Degree students only (except Double Degree program)
  • Must have sat for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysian (SPM) examination and obtain Credit for BM.
  • You must have at least 1 year (2 semesters) of study left upon application.

Before applying, YOU MUST:

  1. Purchase PTPTN Pin Number – from the PTPTN website: https://www.ptptn.gov.my/elmas-pin-purchase-web/#/ or from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN). The PTPTN No. is only valid within 6 months from the date of purchase.
  2. Open a CIMB account – for loan disbursement by semester and must be under applicant name.
  3. Open an SSPN account at https://www.ptptn.gov.my/esmas-open-acc-web/#/– or at the PTPTN branch with minimum amount of RM 20.00.

Once you have done the above, you can apply for the PTPTN Study Loan online: https://www.ptptn.gov.my/gateway/

Kindly log into your PTPTN account to check the approval and download the agreement forms.

Once your PTPTN Application is approved:

  1. Download and print 2 complete set of agreement forms (single sided printing).
  2. Attach a photocopy of your Degree offer letter or Articulation letter if you articulated from Foundation to Degree in Swinburne. You can apply for the articulation letter via student forms on the Swinburne website.
  3. Please bring the agreement forms to Student Information Centre (SIC), StudentHQ for our Executive to sign and stamp as witness.
  4. You will need to purchase two (2) RM10.00 setem hasil for your agreement forms. They can be bought from the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri/ Inland Revenue Board office or at any post office.
  5. Once you’ve done all of the above, you will need to submit the agreement to PTPTN within 14 days from the approval date.
