Academic Progression Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Achieved and maintained a CGPA of 3.85 annually.

Description/Course

  • Offered to new Foundation and undergraduate students who commence their studies in 2019 onwards.

Value

  • RM5,000 per annum off the semester tuition fee.

Emerging Technology Award

Eligibility

  • Successful admission into selected undergraduate program.

Description/Course

Eligible for the following programs:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Information & Communication Technology
  • Bachelor of Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Design (Multimedia Design)
  • Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology)
Scholarship will be deducted from the 2nd semester tuition fees.

Value

  • Up to 20% off the 1st year’s tuition fee.

Dean’s Outstanding Youth Award

Eligibility

An active contributor in co-curricular activities at state and national levels.

Description/Course

  • For students who were actively involved in co-curricular activities at the state and national levels.
  • Scholarship will be deducted from the 2nd semester tuition fees.

Value

  • Up to RM5,000

Diploma Pathway Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Attained a CGPA of 3.33 and above in the Diploma program.

Description/Course

  • For students who have successfully completed Diploma studies from other institutions of higher learning.
  • Bursary will be deducted from the 2nd semester tuition fees.

Value

  • 10% off the 1st year’s tuition fees.

Diploma Pathway Bursary

Eligibility

Admission into chosen undergraduate program.

Description/Course

For students who have successfully completed a Swinburne Diploma. Bursary will be deducted from the 2nd semester of undergraduate studies.

Value

  • 15% off the 1st year’s tuition fees.

Bumiputera Financial Scheme

Eligibility

Student whose family’s monthly income of not more than RM1500 per dependent. of study at Swinburne. Must have applied for study loan from relevant government bodies before/at the start of academic session at Swinburne.

Description/Course

Open to Sarawakian Bumiputera students who are newly enrolled into a program of study at Swinburne

Siblings Rebate

Eligibility

On evidence of the (sibling) relationship to a current student and each sibling being enrolled.

Description/Course

  • Offered to the second and subsequent sibling of current Swinburne student enrolled in a full-time award bearing on full-time award-bearing program.
  • Deduction will be made from the 2nd semester tuition fees.

Value

  • 10% rebate off the 1st year’s tuition fee.

Accommodation Bursary

General Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions are applicable across the range of awards and bursaries offered by Swinburne Sarawak only:

Eligibility

  • The availability of award/bursary is subject to a pre-determined quota set by the university
  • The award/bursary is only valid for studies at Swinburne Sarawak
  • The awarding of the award/bursary is conditional upon payment of full term fee
  • The offer of an award/bursary shall be based on the official academic results obtained in a single sitting
  • All awards/bursaries are to be given as course tuition fee rebate only and cannot be exchanged for cash
  • Award/bursary recipients must continue to study full-time throughout the award or bursary period
  • Students enrolled into any of the University’s Master by Coursework programs and who are studying part-time is eligible to apply for the Master by Coursework Bursary and/or the Alumni Bursary.
    • Part-time studies at the postgraduate level are for Malaysian students only.
  • The award recipient shall maintain a full study load in each term.
  • Award or bursary recipients shall contribute to Swinburne Sarawak’s activities including participation in promotional activities as and when required, during their period of study
  • Successful applicants will be notified via an award/bursary offer letter
  • The award or bursary is not-transferable
  • The award or bursary shall be forfeited if the student withdraws from the course or transfers to Swinburne Australia
  • Once the award/bursary is forfeited, it shall not be reinstated
  • The award/bursary shall be forfeited if the student fails to abide by the rules and regulations of Swinburne Sarawak
  • A student is entitled to only one award or bursary
  • A student who has been awarded an award and/or bursary by Swinburne Sarawak or any other institution shall not be eligible for another award or bursary
  • Unless otherwise approved, each student is only entitled to one award/bursary/financial assistance scheme/promotional benefits offered by Swinburne Sarawak and its group at any one time. In the event that the student qualifies for more than one award, he/she must choose which of these he/she wishes to apply and accept
  • Approval must be obtained from the Registrar of Swinburne Sarawak for leave of absence. The award shall recommence once the recipient resumes his/her studies at Swinburne Sarawak. Failure to obtain approval for leave of absence shall result in the forfeiture of the award
  • Only completed application forms received by the closing date will be entertained
  • Swinburne Sarawak shall not be responsible for any application form that is misplaced, lost or failed to reach the designated department of Swinburne Sarawak
  • Swinburne Sarawak reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the award/bursary as and when required without prior notice. All decisions of Swinburne Sarawak including those on matters not covered above are final and binding.
  • All decisions made by the Swinburne Sarawak Award Committee are final. Appeals will not be entertained.

External Scholarships

Skim Biasiswa Yayasan Sarawak Tun Taib

Eligibility

  • Open to all students who have completed matriculation/Pre-U/ A Level/Diploma/STPM or equivalent qualifications.
  • Must attained a CGPA of 3.00 and above or all Grade A in STPM.

Description
The Yayasan Sarawak Tun Taib Scholarship aims to recognize and reward academically gifted students who have also shown strong leadership skills and are active in community engagement.

Recipients of this scholarship will have the opportunity to serve in the public sector of the Sarawak State Government, as and when needed.

Preferred Fields of Study:

  • Engineering
  • Biotechnology
  • Science & Technology
  • Any other courses that are STEM related (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

The scholarship is currently not open for submission. Applicants are advised to check their student webmail and internal Blackboard regularly.

Biasiswa Yayasan Biasiswa Sarawak Tunku Abdul

Eligibility

  • Open to all students who have completed matriculation/Pre-U/ A Level/Diploma/STPM or equivalent qualifications.
  • Must attained a CGPA of 3.00 and above or all Grade A in STPM.

Description
A scholarship offered to students who excelled academically, possess strong leadership skills and is active in community engagement.

  • Human Resource
  • Design
  • Any other courses that are not STEM related (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

OCBC Scholarship 2019

Description:

The scholarship is open to students who have gained admission or are eligible for admission into first year full-time undergraduate studies at selected Malaysian universities. We also welcome first year students of these universities to apply.

Requirements:

  • Malaysian citizen
  • Holds leadership positions in extra-curricular activities, societies and clubs in school/university
  • Possesses a dynamic personality with excellent communication and critical thinking skills
  • Must not be a recipient of any other scholarship or award from any other organisations and/or institutions
  • Family household income of below RM 5,000 monthly

Academic Results:

You must have obtained the following academic results:

  • Minimum 7As in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM); or 5As in Unified Examination Certificate (UEC)
  • Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.50 in Matriculation/Foundation Studies
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.50 for existing first year undergraduates

  • Computer Science and Information Technology
  • Mathematics and Statistics / Actuarial Science

What does OCBC Offer:

  • RM23,000 per year per student who has gained admission into a selected Malaysian private university
  • The scholarship is tenable for the minimum period required to complete a course leading to a first degree – subject to consistent and excellent academic performance.

Condition of the Award:

All candidates will be required to avail themselves for employment at OCBC Bank. However, if for any reason the Bank decides this is not needed, or is unable to employ the candidate, it will duly release him or her from this requirement.

Requirements:

  • Malaysian with good academic results in STPM
  • Has gained acceptance into local public universities
  • Active in co-curriculum activities
  • Lack of financial support to pursue tertiary studies

What does Top Glove offer:

Successful applicants will be awarded Scholarship according to respective discipline as follows:

  • Scholarship amounting to RM 8,000 per year for Arts, Law, Management undergraduate students.
  • Scholarship amounting to RM 9,000 per year for Science and Engineering undergraduate students.

Condition of the Award:

  • The successful applicant must not be bonded to any other body or organisation.
  • The successful applicant must not, without the prior written consent of the Foundation, accept any other scholarships or forms of financial aid from other sources whatsoever while he/she is continuing to receive any form of financial aid from the Foundation and/or when his/her scholarship agreement with the Foundation is still in force.
  • Each individual applicant is responsible for all costs incurred in the course of applying for the Scholarship.
  • Successful applicants will be required to serve TOP GLOVE GROUP OF COMPANIES based on the duration of the scholarship for instance if we provide 4 years scholarship, the applicant is required to bond with Top Glove for 4 years or etc upon completion of their studies.

KLSCCCI Scholarship Fund

(Only open to Malaysian students)

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Kuala Lumpur & Selangor University / College Scholarship Fund aims to assist Malaysian students irrespective of races, religion and creed from needy families who are of good character and excel in their studies by providing scholarship and interest free loan to pursue their education.

Requirements:

  • The applicant must be a Malaysian irrespective of races, religion and creed who has been accepted by or at the time of making such application pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate learning course in any university, college, technical and vocational training centre or institute of higher learning in Malaysia or abroad.
  • The applicant must excel in his/her academic performance, active in co-curriculum activities, having good conduct and comes from needy family.

Further Details:

  • Duration:
    • Scholarship: Holders of the scholarship must make fresh application each year.
    • Loan: The loan shall be given to an applicant for such a duration as may be required by the course concerned and determined by the Chamber.
  • Amount:
    • Scholarship: Each successful applicant will be awarded an amount of not exceeding RM3,000.00 per academic year.
    • Loan: Each successful applicant will receive an amount of not exceeding RM8,000.00 per academic year.
  • Condition of the Award:
    • The applicant who has obtained any scholarship or loan from other sources is not eligible to apply for this fund.
    • The Chamber reserves the right to cancel or recall the scholarship or loan granted to those who are in breach of this rule.
    • Those who are given the scholarship or loan, but intend to receive other scholarship or loan, must refund the money to the Chamber.

There are 2 steps to the application process:

Step 2: Fill in the hardcopy form with these documents:

  • PTPTN Offer Letter
  • Proof of online application has been submitted (sent to the Applicant’s email)
  • Both parents latest pay slips (if applicable)
  • Income tax form / Government Pensioner Slip/ Verified letter for parents not working (if applicable)

Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN)

Eligibility

  • The loan is applicable for Malaysian Degree students only (except Double Degree program)
  • You must have at least 1 year (2 semesters) of study left upon application.

Before applying, YOU MUST:

  1. Purchase PTPTN Pin Number – from the PTPTN website: https://www.ptptn.gov.my/elmas-pin-purchase-web/#/ or from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN). The PTPTN No. is only valid within 6 months from the date of purchase.
  2. Open a CIMB account – for loan disbursement by semester and must be under applicant name.
  3. Open an SSPN account at https://www.ptptn.gov.my/esmas-open-acc-web/#/– or at the PTPTN branch with minimum amount of RM 20.00.

Once you have done the above, you can apply for the PTPTN Study Loan online: https://www.ptptn.gov.my/gateway/

Application Period
Semester 1:From 1st until 31st January
From 1st until 28/29th February
Outcome of application: After the 7th of each application month
Semester 2:From 1st until 31st August
From 1st until 30th September
Outcome of application: After the 7th of each application month

Kindly log into your PTPTN account to check the approval and download the agreement forms.

Once your PTPTN Application is approved:

  1. Download and print 2 complete set of agreement forms (single sided printing).
  2. Attach a photocopy of your Degree offer letter or Articulation letter if you articulated from Foundation to Degree in Swinburne. You can apply for the articulation letter via student forms on the Swinburne website.
  3. Please bring the agreement forms to Student Information Centre (SIC), StudentHQ for our Executive to sign and stamp as witness.
  4. You will need to purchase two (2) RM10.00 setem hasil for your agreement forms. They can be bought from the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri/ Inland Revenue Board office or at any post office.
  5. Once you’ve done all of the above, you will need to submit the agreement to PTPTN within 14 days from the approval date.
