KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (Swinburne Sarawak) will hold its annual Swinburne Sarawak Open Day on Saturday, 8 August 2026, at its campus along Jalan Simpang Tiga. The event gives prospective students and their families direct access to academic counsellors, financial assistance advisors, and faculty ahead of the university’s September 2026 intake.
The day features three dedicated talk sessions covering financial planning, postgraduate study, and the Sarawak Government’s Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES) for eligible students.
What to Expect at Swinburne Sarawak Open Day 2026
Yayasan Sarawak Financial Advisory Talk – 10:30AM
- Franklyn Messat anak Kujang, Section Head, Application Approval Section, Yayasan Sarawak, will deliver the in-demand financial assistance talk. He will address financial planning options at Yayasan Sarawak for prospective students and their families.
MBA and Postgraduate Study Talk – 11:30AM
- Professor Brian Wong Kee Mun, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Design and Arts, will deliver at talk entitled Making Sense of a Changing World: How an MBA Helps Leaders Navigate the Uncertain Global Economy. In this session, Prof Wong will examine how postgraduate study at Swinburne Sarawak equips professionals to respond to shifting trade policy, artificial intelligence, and inflationary pressure affecting Malaysian business.
FTES Talk – 1:00PM
- Jason Chan, Director of Future Students, will present the session. He will walk attendees through the details many families find confusing: which degree programmes qualify under FTES, what the ‘K’ on an IC unlocks, and the alternatives available for students whose household does not meet the FTES criteria.
Meet Senior Students and Lecturers at the Diploma Hub
Alongside the talk sessions, a Diploma Hub will be held at the Student Leisure Area from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. The hub gives prospective students and parents the chance to meet senior diploma students and lecturers.
Activities include parent-student engagement sessions with programme heads, an interactive business simulation game, live application demonstrations by Department of Information Technology lecturers, and on-the-spot registration for Try a Diploma Class sessions.

Members of the public – particularly SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, and A-Level school leavers – are encouraged to attend. To register, visit the university’s event website. Those who attend can speak with academics, explore the campus, and learn about study options at a globally recognised Australian university.
