Famelab Malaysia 2017 is back and the Sarawak and Sabah heats are being held at Swinburne Sarawak.

FameLab is one of the biggest science communication competitions in the world. Participants explain a scientific concept to a general audience in under 3 minutes.

The competition aims to encourage science communication outside the academic community, crucial when researchers apply for public funding or enthuse others about their work. 

Participating in the regional heat is the first step in the Famelab journey. The regional heat finalists go onto participate in the national finals and the winner participates in the International finals held in Cheltenham, UK. 

In 2016, two Swinburne Sarawak students competed in the Malaysian finals. This year the Sarawak and Sabah regional heat will be held at Swinburne Sarawak, where 4 Swinburne students have been selected to go through.  

The event is open to the public and is held during Swinburne Sarawak’s Open Day.
