KUCHING – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus is opening its doors on 10 May 2025 for an immersive Open Day that offers students and their families firsthand insights into the university’s academic offerings, vibrant campus culture, and supportive learning environment.
The event will take place from 10am to 4pm at Swinburne Sarawak’s campus along Jalan Simpang Tiga and is open to the public with free admission. It presents an excellent opportunity for prospective students – particularly SPM, STPM, O-Level, A-Level, and UEC school-leavers – to explore affordable Australian tertiary education closer to home and take the first step towards shaping their future.
At the Open Day, visitors will have the chance to connect directly with the university’s education counsellors and academic experts for personalised guidance on programs, scholarships, study pathways, and career prospects.
Students can discover Swinburne Sarawak’s wide range of programs across multiple disciplines, including business, computing, design, engineering, quantity surveying, science, arts, media, and education. By engaging with Swinburne Sarawak’s staff and learning more about different programs, students can gain a clearer perspective to help them choose a path that best suits their aspirations and interests.
The next-generation university has recently launched its Bachelor of Cyber Security and Bachelor of Data Science, two new programs that align with the growing demands of today’s digital landscape. Students can enquire further about these new programs, which are designed to equip the next generation of leaders with skills to drive the digital transformation of Sarawak and beyond.
Apart from academic offerings, visitors will be able to explore the various scholarships and financial aid options offered to support students and their families. These include merit-based awards from Swinburne Sarawak as well as funding options from external partners, providing greater access to higher education for students from diverse backgrounds.
At the event, attendees can tune in to an informative talk session by Yayasan Sarawak on the financial assistance options available through the foundation. A representative from Swinburne Sarawak will also present a talk on the Sarawak Free Tertiary Education Scheme.
Representatives from Yayasan Sarawak will be available at the Open Day to offer advice on scholarships, financial aid, and loans. Visitors can find out more about Yayasan Sarawak’s initiatives, including the BP40 Bursary Scheme and English Enhancement Program (EEP). The BP40 Bursary Scheme provides the opportunity for Sarawakian Bumiputera students to study at Swinburne Sarawak with tuition fees as affordable as those at public universities in Malaysia. Meanwhile, the EEP is a free four-week program that allows all Sarawakian students who meet the entry requirements to strengthen their English proficiency while getting a glimpse of university life.
In addition to exploring all these aspects, students and parents can learn more about Swinburne Sarawak’s state-of-the-art facilities, Work Integrated Learning, flexible exchange and transfer options, and student support services that help ensure that every student thrives with a well-rounded experience.
A key highlight of the Open Day is the chance for visitors to explore the campus through guided tours, where they can experience the university’s upgraded facilities, such as the Borneo Atrium, Student Hub, Student Village, and Food Hall. These upgrades underscore the university’s commitment to providing a world-class teaching and learning environment that supports both academic excellence and student wellbeing. Prospective students can also engage with the dynamic campus community, getting a feel for life at Swinburne Sarawak.
The university will be accepting on-the-spot applications at the Open Day, and eligible students applying for admission will receive their Letter of Offer on the same day. For application purposes, students are advised to bring along a copy of their Malaysian identification card or a certified copy of their passport, as well as academic transcripts and certificates (SPM, STPM, UEC, O-Level, A-Level, and so on).
