Swinburne Sarawak Associate Professor receives National Outstanding Young Researcher Award

KUCHING – Associate Professor Ir Dr Viknesh Andiappan from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science was recently presented with the National Outstanding Young Researcher Award at the Private Education Excellence Awards 2023.

Organised by the Private Education Co-Operative of Malaysia (EduCoop), the award ceremony was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on 10 August 2023.

The Private Education Excellence Awards annually awards outstanding educators, researchers and institutions in Malaysia to recognise their contributions and achievements in their field.

Candidates undergo a rigorous process of applications, shortlisting and interviews before the choice is made. This year, there were over 70 applicants for 17 categories.

“Winning this prestigious award has been a humbling experience. I am very grateful for the honour and I aim to take this achievement as a stepping stone to leave a small mark in this world and to help others wherever I can,” said Dr Viknesh.

“This award signifies the all hard work and effort put into this journey. I am immensely grateful to my family, mentors, students, collaborators, colleagues and friends. I hope that this will inspire others to pursue excellence in their respective fields, too,” he added.

This achievement is a testament to Swinburne’s continuous commitment to research and education excellence. Swinburne is dedicated to producing internationally recognised research with a focus on transforming industries, shaping lives and creating positive change.
